Seems like Detroit has a major power outage going on. Large enough to make the news, anyway. Hopefully this is a passing failure and not an omen of things to come.
The 'D' is awesome, aside from the commute, I miss working downtown. Try to take the family every chance I get. Downtown gets a bad rap.
I'm not in Detroit, but my power does come off of part of the Detroit circuit... I hope I have power when I get home from work... My classes were cancelled today because campus didn't have power. I go to Wayne State which is in downtown.
Got the feeling we'll see more this in the future. The grid is aging and we're retiring power generating faster than we're building new ones. The ones the left wants us to build aren't good for base load and for surge capability it's not good.
The news on this said that only government building were without power. Is the city government in Detroit on a separate power grid? Or are they just the only ones left?
Would like to also add that the Detroit Hockey Arena was affected cause there practice with the Florida Panthers was delayed, not sure if they played at all though.
