I apologize in advance for the tag/label being obscured by the watch strap. For the sake of clarity it's a Seiko 007 with a Kain Heritage strap I'm really happy with my slightly modded Maxpedition Micro Organizer, it seems like the perfect size for what I'd like to carry. I'd like to add a few pics of my newly acquired Willydigger villain. I'm really super impressed that he makes these little guys by hand. It is a joy to look at and it really does help me get my knife out all the easier. Thanks Fred !
The villain looks AMAZING with that para. NICE! So do you throw that pouch into your pocket or in a bag of some sort? The pouch with the light, tweezers and such.
I initially tried to carry it in my cargo pocket, but quickly figured out it was going to have to ride in my Lunada or cycling pannier. Or...
Seiko 007 w/ Kain strap. SAK safari pathfinder w/ Nite Ize clip plus Mora...my hiking kit. EDC work tool #1...CCK cleaver with custom cocobolo/ebony handle.
Thanks! I use it as my primary prep knife at work...a reg. handled one can be had for very little moneys and performs way beyond it's price tag. Here's my other two tools that I use for proteins primarily.
Wow... just wow Very nice knives. It kind of surprises me that your steel of choice for hiking are two inexpensive knives... But can totally understand. Your work blades are absolutely outstanding. Love the patina on them. What kind of steels are those?
The top handle is ebony with buff horn ferrule. The bottom is Amboyna with ebony ferrule and nickle silver spacer/butt cap. I tried out a lot of more expensive and custom knives for camping/hiking, but came back to those two because they actually out-performed everything else. Thanks for compliment on the gyutos, though all praise should be sent to Konosuke's fujiyama smith. The top one is White #1 and the bottom is White #2. He forges, grinds and then sharpens to crazy tolerances (think of grinding down a blade to within fractions of a mm before finishing). I'm really getting sucked into the j-knife world....it's a lot of fun to learn about the different task-specific shaped blades and figure out what knives suit you the best. One more, because I want fall to hurry up and get here!
