On Sunday I was working at a clinic plowing and moving snow. (I live in Massachusetts). I was using a bobcat and it seems that at some point while I was working my spyderco delica fell out of my pocket while I was either getting in or out of the Bobcat. :(. So now it would seem I am looking for a new knife. Help me decide what I need. I don't know if i want another delica or if I want to go with something else.

From the pockets of a 17 year old prepper.

Are you specifically looking for another Spyderco?
Also, do you have a price range?

Ontario RAT 1 can be bought for about $25-$30.00. They are great budget blades! If you want something's smaller than 3.5 inches there is a RAT II that is smaller.

Why not just go with another Delica or one of my personal favorites a Manix2 LW S110V

If you really like the Delica (one of my faves) then get another Delica. If not, my vote is for the Mini Grip or Rat2

You need another DELICA, I have a mini grip and stuff but the delica is a lot better knife. Steel, slim line, clip and blade shape are all in favor of delica. So keep calm and delica on

That Elusive Spyderco Delica. So light weight. So thin. So easy to lose. The only good knife I have ever lost. I plan on replacing it with another delica.

Sucks that you lost your Delica @ Christian Lindsay . I know that punch in the gut feeling when you reach for your knife and it i gone. The silver lining to your cloud is that Spyderco is doing a sprint run of Delicas in ZDP- 189. GET ONE!

I don't see why you cant find that Delica when the snow starts melting. Until then, any Griptilian, or Ontario Rat would be my vote. The Benchmade 707 or 940 is also killer if you want to spend more. I love my Delica, but its lower on my preference list.

Sorry for the loss of your Delica. They are very good knives and I know because I have several. However, there is nothing better than the Dragonfly for all around utilitarian value. It is also cheaper and won't cost as much to replace should you per chance one day in the near distant future lose it. :D

What drew you to the Delica in the first place? VG10/Lockback/Spyderco name/4-way clip/2.8" blade/2.7 oz weight? Help us ID what you like so we can help you ID a replacement.

Agreeing with Whiteswoodworks that the VG10 will still be around when the snow melts. Maybe not if there was road salt involved--might be a good test. But it'll be around.

I highly recommend the mini-grip. There's no knife I enjoy carrying more. I can't keep it out of my pocket. The scales + clip are a pocket grater for sure, but there will be no slippage into Massachusetts snow banks.

Like almost everyone else said a mini grip is a great knife. You can even get it in bright colors (I have blue) just in case you drop it in the snow. A spyderco Manix 2 in S110v is also very high on my list. Rat II is great for the price. Love mine. You could also just get another delica. They also come in bright colors, mines orange.
