Thats a GW1300-A that is being very grumpy and has been stuck with a low battery since I bought it. I haven't had an appropriately sunny day here in DFW to get it charged up.

I wear a G-Shock Mudman Rally every day and am very satisfied. Tough Solar and atomic. Never have a problem syncing and it can take a heck of a beating. The only complaint I would have is that the buttons are pretty stiff.

I would go with something basic like the DW-5600, DW-6600 or DW-6900. Stay away from the solar and Atomics, they're not necessary and only add to the cost. Also, the negative displays are hard to read and will cause you to use the backlight more often, draining your batteries sooner.

I agree with the comment on the negative displays, but I prefer Solar/Atomic myself. You can find really good deals on Amazon and honestly I find the solar part great because then you really never have to worry about the watch ever again.

No way! That was my first G-Shock that I lost in the washroom of a California casino when I took it off to wash my hands and walked out forgetting all about it! Since then I never bought any other line of watch cuz oh man oh man but G-Shocks CAN take a licking and keep on tickin....I mean keep telling time. I'm surprised it's still in the lineup since that must have been at least 15 years ago.

Another vote here for the GWM5600 - it satisfies all of these criteria, and IMHO is the best-looking of the atomic/solar G-Shocks - low profile and slightly retro

I've had it for over almost 2 years now, and I work in a prison, so it can take a beating. Has 5 alarms, solor, atomic, negative display (the numbers light up nicely too). I work the graveyard shift, and rarely see more than an hour of daylight at a time. I charged the watch for 2 days on a windowsill about a year ago, and it hasn't lost its charge since. I needed a watch with the same qualifications as you seem to need, but I also needed recessed buttons, which this one has. My previous watches all got killed by having the buttons ripped off when smacked into cell doors, and snagged on stuff. It's also not too 'blingy', which I like alot.

I didn't get mine from the site I linked, but thats mainly so you can see it.

I'm a bit of a watch buff too. My favorite watches are my Luminox watches. I have two that I wear quite frequently. As far as the G-Shock goes, I picked up the classic one a few weeks back and it's turned into my EDC watch. It's simple and basic which I love. I don't have much use for the gadgetry (sp?) of the other versions of the watch and I am turned off completely by the ones that are 3 inches thick. I recommend the classic:

You took it off to wash your hands? I've heard of people taking showers with them on. :buckteeth: You should buy another one, they're dirt cheap.

    Thanks Guy's,
I broke down and got my watch, (more or less the wife did) she was tired of listening to me, and for a B-day gift, i went with a Casio Atomic Solar tough G-shock #GW6900-1 ,,, i tried to post before i bought it but couldn't get in,,, Ive had it for a day and the only problem i have with it is trying to get it to sinc up, has anyone had this problem? I did everything it said in the book, i guess it doesn't help that im all the way out in Ct and surrounded by mountains,,, If anyone knows anything give me a shout back... heck if i knew that it wouldn't pick up i would have got the cheaper model that is the same thing, just not atomic, yet is solar, below is the one i got, and the one below that is the same thing, just not atomic... Check out the GW5600J, solar atomic with the classic face, a little smaller face than most Gshocks, just do the initial setup and wear it.

GW 5000 is the all time classic imho screw back for the purist with all the updated features, plus the smaller face is quite refreshing!
