Hey all, I am looking for a heavy duty folding knife, blade length ~3.5 inches (I can go a little over, but would like to keep it under 4, say maybe 3.75" or so) with a big fat blade, I mean I want thick. Well, at the very least thicker than my Kershaw Tanto Blur. 4mm or better thickness is what I am after. Any ideas? I found very few thick bladed folders that I liked. So far the only one that I saw is the Extreme Ratio MF1, but it is pretty far outside my price range.

So, all that being said, what do you guys (and gals) suggest?

Some of the Zero Tolerance knives have 0.156 inches (~4mm) blades (ZT0200 and ZT0300). And the blades are nice and wide. They carry a great reputation for severe duty/ hard use. The ZT0550/0551 is a somewhat similar (blade thickness and solid as a tank construction) Hinderer collaborative design and hits the streets on Monday (at least that's when mine will be delivered).

I also believe that the steel used in the ZTs (S30V/Elmax) is better for hard use than the majority of Extrema Ratio blades (N690). The best deal is probably the ZT0200 at around $125 street.

And you can buy ZT knives from the JSBurly shop.

ZT makes exactly what you are looking for and again John sells them. I got a ZT 350 from John last week and it is awesome. It is a massive slab of cutting power.

If you can pay the price the Strider SNG is a beast, you can beat the **** out of it and it will still cut good

Another vote for the ZT range. Some of the best built folders for the price I have found.

Got my name down for the HEST folder. It looks fantastic, at quite a reasonable price too.

What is your price range anyway? Check out offerings from Cold Steel. The AK-47 is a tough beast and that Tri-Ad lock is the best in the business.

I believe that price of the Strider is an issue for the OP.

I would say the most I want to pay is $125 or so. So far I have been looking at the Zero Tolerance knives, but have to wait a bit until after all the christmas shopping is done.

ZT0200 is perhaps the best deal within your budget. It is a very strong folder.

Spyderco Manix II or original Manix comes to mind, but it's above your $125 limit unless you get it used.
