    Hello everyone:

I'm looking for a wider backpack, currently I use a Rush12 and like it, however, I think I need a bit more room.

I would like a similar pack but made a bit wider to increase storage. I don't like packs that stick out the back (several compartments on top of one another, there by making the pack "deeper"?).

    Any thoughts?....

    Thanks for your time! .....

I agree. I love mine. So glad I went ahead and bought it instead of the Rush 12.

I've looked at the 24 and 72, both are nice but im looking for a wider "flatter" backpack.

I'm not desperate for the increase in storage space per say, I just want something that gives less of a "camel" hump if you catch my drift.

    Thanks for your time!....

    Sub'd.

I'm in the same boat. I've got a condor compact assault pack and wish it was wider and not necessarily so deep.

That's where I started!, then I got the rush12, a step up as far as I'm concerned but, not quite there yet for me.

Let's see if anyone else has any ideas. ....

    Thanks for your time.

I've been comparing numbers on a lot of packs lately and the Goruck GR0, MR ASAP, TAD litespeed, and Arc'teryx Arro 22 all seem to lay pretty flat. I think goruck was the flattest at 5.5 inches.

Ok, that was a short lived adventure over to goruck, $275 for a pack?.

I really hope I don't offend any goruck owners but for $275 I should be able to jump IN the pack and have it haul my butt home!.

In all seriousness, im sure goruck is awesome, it is also a bit more than I need.

    Thanks for your time.

Ok, I think I have been spoiled by my rush 12.

It seems this pack is a way better deal than I realized. I'm in no way knocking goruck, TAD, MR or any other manufacturer. I now realize that at the price range im used to, the 5.11 range of bags is hard to beat.

I am not associated with any of the manufacturers mentioned on this thread and it was never my intention to badmouth any manufacturer (I don't think I did).

I think I'll stick to what I know and enjoy my r12.

    Thanks all for your imput.

Around and around it goes! But not to worry; we all do it to ourselves and each other.

I love the LA police gear 3 day bag just about as much as I love the rush 24...if price is concern get the LA bag its very affordable compared to the 24!

May have gotten a lemon but I had to return my LAPG 3-day. SRB's broke on me on Week 3. They are a bit too brittle...

In as much as they are my go to store, this one had to back

Goruck is a one-time long-term buy instead of 3 or 4 less expensive packs. That can also be a problem since you won't want to or need to replace it.

    Not a big problem though...

I think the consensus is the LAPG 3 Day is a "disposable" pack. That broken buckle pic shows why.

Regarding the Rush 12 and the OP, IMHO, it's one of the best buys in the gear universe. Features, comfort, price, build quality, etc. are all high marks on that pack.

Having a hand at the LAPG 3-Day, it isn't as bad as it may seem. Stitching is not bad for 30$. If you're looking for an alternate between the home/school/office, it does the job. LAPG may have made a bad choice to source their hardware. I have and love their Bail outs and Diaper bags, and have not had any issues with them so far

    And yes +1 to 5.11

So the AHP came in today and I think I found the sweet spot in terms of "width" for me. Like the OP, I loved my R12 but as time (and load) came in, I began to have a feeling it was a tad small for my back. So I began EDC'ing my R24 for the business load while I searched for a wider but not too bulky pack (I look like I was living in the office).

Edit: not exactly one of my better ones but here's a brood pic (R12, M10, AHP, and the beaten but reliable R24). Was looking for a reference pic like this before but never found one so hopefully this helps someone.

Edit: So first attempt was horrible lol. Let's see if this better:

Work is just hectic tonight but I'll see about getting a better pic to compare them side by side this weekend.
