I have decided I want to add a pocket pistol to my carry options. I have looked at a couple (LCP and Kel tec). I am just wondering what else I should look at before making my choice
I only have a few requirements
Must be able to be carried in a jeans or khaki pants pocket.
If it has a external safety it needs to be an ambi safety. I shoot left handed.

    Thanks in advance

might be worth looking into a small j-frame. The new fangled ones with the internal hammer are made for pocket carry.

the S&W body guards are nice....small form factor, integrated laser, mild recoil......and it fit decently well in my gorilla paws.

I love my Ruger LC9. i'd feel totally safe pocket carrying it, too, due in large part to the manual safety and DAO trigger.

Edit: Not an ambidextrous safety so I guess the LC9 is out.

I have the KelTec PF9... Great pocket gun. It is 9mm and with good ammo you are covered. Fits in the pockets. It is double action only. Great gun.

Kahr PM series. PM9 and PM40 specifically. The .380s out there are teeny, but don't have much power. I have a Kel-Tec P3AT myself and sometimes I feel it's not enough. At least go with a 9mm. Be warned, they aren't cheapy pistols.

These don't have an external safety. Only a full deliberate trigger pull will cause them to fire. Get a holster, keep your booger-hook off the bang lever, and you'll be fine.

I too vote for kahr arms. I have been carrying a pm40 for several years now and have had no problems what so ever.

What kind of price range are you looking at? If money is no object, Rohrbaugh R9 no question!

I aways liked my fathers little Smith & Wesson Sigma .380

If you want some more knock down power check out the Rhino Revolver. I've been thinking about one of these myself .

I could never get used to the rear sights on the Kahr. Not having two dots in the back really bothers me.

Thanks for pointing out the S&W Bodyguards I had not looked at them, I think the Bodyguard 38 is something worth looking at. As for price around 500 new is where I want to be at. I am not new to firearms at all, but the smallest firearm I own is a G26/27.
    Keep em coming.

Eh, they can always be changed. Factory night sights add about $75 to $90 to the cost and they are 3 dot trits. I wouldn't dismiss these guns as an option because of something like that.

Another option is the Ruger LCR. They have a .38 +p and a .357 model available. They go for $400ish

I've got a Ruger .380 LCP but still always go back to my old S&W M38 Body Guard J-Frame. It'll carry perfectly in something like Cabelas hiking pants and shorts.

Oh, as was brought up, always use a pocket holster.

+1 on Kel Tec. I have a P32. Also do a J frame revolver but, in a jeans pocket it would be tough, doable but, much easier in slacks. Whatever you go with, I'd still recommend a holster. I'm a big fan of http://www.pocketholsters.com/index.html

I carry a Glock 27 in a Galco Pocket Protector.

Of course, a Glock 27 is a little big for pocket carry, but a 6'3" and :censored: near 400 pounds, I can pull it off better than most. ;)

My next firearm purchase will likely be a S&W Bodyguard 380.

A J frame S&W is a good choice for pocket carry, particularly if it is a airweight, but my 640-1 is bag carried unless it is on the waistband with the Barami hip grips. The only gun I pocket carry is my Seecamp .32, and it is a regular companion in a Desantis Nemesis. I'd like to take a look at that new Sig P290... I've got a soft spot for true double action only pocket pistols.

Love my Colt Mustang Pocketlite .380. Colt is now shipping a New revised edition of the Mustang Pocketlite, also have been hearing from people to wait till Shot Show as Sig is coming out with a new 9mm pocket pistol.
