I carry a Fisher bullet pen in my shirt pocket but I want to add a pen to my key chain to have one even more handy. Anyone know of a smallish pen with an integral clip or carabiner that'll do the trick? My backup plan is to sew up a sleeve of webbing with a D ring. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
I don't have any experience with these, but the ones that pop up quick when you do a search are... TEC Pico Pen Fisher Space Pen Trekker Nite Ize Inka True Utility Telescopic Keychain pen
Slightly left field but I carry a victorious manager as my keychain pen on a mini karabiner. Just flip out the Phillips tool on the other end to give it enough length.
Thanks for all the ideas but these are 'the usual suspects' and I don't think they'll work for my purposes. I have a Trekker around here somewhere already but the cap will not stay securely enough on the pen (or the pen will not stay securely enough inside the cap). If the cap screwed on rather securely rather than slid on, it'd be perfect. My most recent attempt has been a Nite Ize Inka. First the plastic cap cracked so I had to use some epoxy and string to rebuild it. Since then the darn thing kept falling off my key ring as the clip at the end wasn't secure enough. I've managed to finally loose it completely this week. That's what prompted me to start this thread. I managed to keep this one on my keys for probably 3 months before its demise. The design was good, not just robust enough. If it was metal rather than plastic ... I had a Pico Pen a couple of years ago and I lost it - it came off my key ring within 24 hours, never to be seen again. The Telescopic pen looks a little 'slight' for me. I'm looking for a pen that is usable, not a small device that can be used as a pen in a pinch. You're thinking in the right direction though. Thanks again
"The Move" is a contender. Not too pricy and I like the look/design of it. How long is it (nudge, nudge, wink, wink to all fellow Python fans)? The Move is currently out of stock and it looks like out of production at the moment though, just to make it even less easy.
I had a Pico-pen, but at some point the pen part disappeared. I kept the magnet side just in the pen shows up, but it's been missing for several years now. --flatline
The Zebra. Think it's called the Compact. Only negative is that the O ring that lets the cap post firmly wears away after a while, but I never post, no big whoop. Secure click in and out. No problems writing upside down, don't know if pressurized.
The Zebra 301 C (compact)...if you use the correct size drill bit it will take a Fisher Space refill.
You can email the maker, Oliver Sha, to see whether he can get you a pen or not. He offered me an Al one, but I wanted a Ti one instead. Too heavy for a keychain carry.
I know that there are Fisher space pens that have the lid drilled to have a triangle ring (not sure what it's actually called). It also seems like a relatively simple diy project with a drill and a vice. Haven't attempted it so proceed with caution.
Well while I'm still looking for the right pen to clip onto my key chain, I whipped up a quick Pen Pocket out of webbing to use in the interim. Dead easy to make and it holds one of my spare Fisher Bullet Pens quite nicely. In case anyone is interested, here's what I have on my key ring, going counterclockwise in the photo: Car fob RescueMe car emergency tool Custom dog tag with 'If found please call ..." Small Key for one of my common locks Sharpie mini Nite Ize mini pry tool Cash container with $20 Canadian and $20 US Twist on flashlight - sorry but I cannot recall the brand House key The smallest Sprderco knife I could find My brand new Pen Pocket.
KP Gears do a lovely little bolt pen. Well made and won't break the bank. Caran D'Ache for scale purposes Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Now we're talking. Unfortunately it looks like these are not in production. I'll have to do more searching when I get back to my computer. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
