I'm looking for a new folder and want something with wood scales for a change. Must have a deep carry clip, good blade steel and a pocket friendly size/weight. So far the Benchmade/Shinola Valet is at the top of my list. Any recommendations would be appreciated, I haven't had much luck finding anything similar to compare. If you don't insist on American-made, you might check out some of Mcusta's offerings. Among other things, they have a Gentleman's Liner Lock with dimensions similar to the Valet (and a deep carry clip).
An interesting knife I hadn't come across before, but the lack of a deep carry clip takes it out of contention for me. Thanks for the recommendation. Sent from my SM-N920W8 using Tapatalk
Then... Deep carry, wooden handle , Made in USA: Buck Vantage Rosewood, all I'd know. Or aftermarket wooden scales from Mr Keyman maybe.
Not looking for a knife that requires aftermarket modification to suit my wants. Sent from my SM-N920W8 using Tapatalk
Shameless self promotion: Well, I have a Mcusta Tactility in the B/S/T section of the forum, might want to take a look. I'd classify that as deep carry.
The one on the right has a 33 layer nickle Damascus steel blade with a VG-10 core. The left one VG-10 as well.
BM 15031-2 I'm sure this would take one of BM's deep carry clips & they're free. Here it is next to a mini grip for a size comparason.
That is a nice knife. How do you get deep carry clips for free? Sent from my SM-N920W8 using Tapatalk
pumpmaster If you are into big knives check out the Benchmade Crooked River. Benchmade will send you a deep carry clip for free.
Lots of interesting options so far. Keep them coming! Thanks everyone. Sent from my SM-N920W8 using Tapatalk
The Benchmade Grizzly 15060-2 may fit, order a deep carry clip when you order it. (Also not sure if swapping a pocket clip in your terms means "aftermarket modification") It's S30V and has a gut hook so the weight is a tiny bit higher. But weight and use is all subject to opinion IMO. I've never actually used a gut hook for dressing, but they are the best on zip ties and packaging.
