Needs a clicky switch, and not more than $60 or I'll just buy another Surefire.

if you can work with a 3 mode single AA... I have a Fenix E12 and Solar Force Z2 that work well... the Z2 is bright first, the E12 low first

Just tried an e12 and hated the low-first modes.

The Streamlight Protac 1AA or 1L-1AA can be set to single mode.

A Foursevens Quark Click (QK2A) 2AA two-mode with memory (so can be used as a non-tactical single mode) is on clearance for ~$26 delivered, or $44 with both 2AA and optional 1AA battery tubes. If you ask for it, you can get forward and reverse clicky options at no additional cost.
