Preferably the 0801bw, 0566bw and cf, 0560 , 0562 and 0562cf. Which model should I get? Anyone have pics ? How ergonomic or they ? Or they heavy (not in hand ) just in pocket
I've had two 0560's and two 0566's one a cf version. If you can handle the weight and the mixed reviews on elmax steel they're great. I loved my 0560's, wish I never got rid of them. The 0566's are great as well but they are just too heavy for the size for me. I would love to try out an 0562cf, seems like the best of both worlds from the 0560 and 0566. I loved the ergos and fit and finish on them I say try one out you'll never know what you like until you try it.
I'd choose the 0562cf out of all of those. I've had a 0566 which is great just slightly smaller than I like in a ZT. I've carried a 0561, which was a little too big. The 0562 carries great in the pocket. Not too heavy at all. My favorite blade shape of the ZT's. I've never handled an 0801 though.
I have reviewed the ZT0801, the ZT0560, and I have in for review right now the ZT0562 and the ZT0566.They are all pretty heavy. The ZT562 is pretty awesome, but in my opinion, the ZT0770 is wildly underrated. It is a good knife.
The quality of all of the knives mentioned is impeccable, but ZT knives are slightly large and heavy (even the CF versions). I have the 0801 and the 0562, and frequently carry them both. I have handled the 0777 and it is considerably lighter than any of the rest of them. If weight isn't a factor, I prefer the way the 0562 feels in the hand. just my opinion.
What would you use them for? Do you have a size limit? This might help a recommendation Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
ZTs aren't all heavy, but many have been. The 0770cf, 0450, 0452cf, and 0900 are actually pretty light. Of course, "heavy" is subjective. I have a 0566, 0550, and 0562, and none of them feel even a little bit heavy to me. I'm lucky enough to live near an online dealer's storefront, so I've had the opportunity to handle a lot of knives. My favorite ZT is the 0562, which is saying a lot. I am very enthusiastic about the 0550 and 0566, and I plan on getting an 0801, 0450, and 0808 as able. The 0562 crept into "favorite" status by giving me a half way point between the 0550 and 0566. It is simply perfect, IMO. I opted for the G-10/Elmax version because I wanted it to be a user. I know myself well enough to know I'd get caught up not wanting to mess up the polished look of the 0562cf. Elmax is a very good steel for a user. It won't hold an edge as long as M390, but that's kind of like saying that Thor doesn't bench as much as the Hulk--they're both plenty impressive.
I have a 562cf and two versions of the 801. I think the egos are better on the 562, but the 801 is the better flipper. Both are great knives.
I really like the 560BW but I've heard some horror stories of it not being quite as up to hard use as some others so I've passed on it so far. I bought a 303 used for cheap and have really grown to like it a lot. It's a LOT heavier than most knives I'd carry, but I suppose for hard use that's acceptable.
I have a 560, 550 and 566 and I love them all. 566 is the easiest to carry, and the 560 isn't bad despite its gargantuan size. There's a zt photo thread in this sub forum. Plenty of great photos in there.
i think the 550 would be a superb hard use knife, with s35vn, plus low prices on them as they are discon, several dealers have them on almost 40% off. love mine in BW. IMG_2436 by chewyicecube, on Flickr
I have a 350,550,566,200 and most recently a 561! I really like them all for various reasons but......... The most recent as I said is the 561 which is pretty honking huge but in a refined sort of way too and the shocking thing to me is just how light it seems compared to all the others? I guess the Ti side really does cut the weight down considerably compared to a huge chunk of steel? Anyway despite all these comparos I think I carry the 350 the most,it is just a great combination of all that I like about the ZT build and finish rolled into a tanklike little(relative of course) package. But I don't see myself letting any of them go too soon either!
Another vote for the 550. Great action once it is broke in. Only nit I have is the G10 scale is meh. So I am going to replace it with a wood scale. As you can see others have replaced the scale. I think you should be able to score one for $165 new. Replaced some hardware too, but the original is fine.
0350, 0450, 0560, 0900, 0454, 0801 all are very nice knves. But, creme of the crop for me is the 0562CF with M390.....
