Maintaining vehicles is key, I agree with that completely. That being said if you've ever worked on a northern vehicle that's seen a couple winters, even good maintenance won't prevent the suspension and drivetrains from rust. The bodies last a lot longer. I just learned growing up that it I had to work on brakes or suspension I would be replacing most, if not ask, the hardware. When I moved south I bought a 10 y/o vehicle and swapped the motor without replacing a single nut it bolt.
