My Dad's sure-fire remedy for cold or flu … "climb into bed with a bottle of your favorite (whisky, bourbon, brandy, etc) … it won't cure the cold, but you won't give a damm" … :)

On Edge , Thank you, for the comments. I'm pretty stoked with the floor, and kitchen overall. It came out better tan I expected.
Speaking of Flu remedies, I had to make the wife a Hot Totty last night. Mug of hot milk, spoon full of Honey, and generous amount of Jack Daniels finest. She slept like a... Well ?? Sleepy thing ??
Antithetik , Thanks for the likes and comments too. I'm not sure my thread will every reach triple digits :D

Looks like we've been bumped up to severe thunderstorms until around 10pm tonight, and then the temp is gonna plummet down...
May have frozen roads tomorrow :-/

Aside from the comment about Jeeps (love everything about my Cherokee, including it's mass … ;)), I agree with all the above - I grew up driving in snow, literally took my road test in an ice storm (because they don't close for "weather" up there) … common sense is your best friend …
biggest problem with 4WD vehicles and the onslaught of SUVs on the road is that people think it makes them invulnerable … physics is still physics folks, this ain't a video game … and if you don't know how to drive in snow, you have two choices - LEARN or DON'T DRIVE IN IT!
    :)

I learned how to snow drive in England :D I have to smile at my Southern Brethren, when they see snow, and call a snow day at 2 inches :D

I just spotted your thread a day or so ago. This looks interesting. I like the idea of an expat Brit giving his take on the US of A. I loved my time in America (short as it was, about a year worth on several occasions ) the grandeur and diversity. I love Europe, Asia, and Australasia too but for completely different reasons, I have a great respect for Americans patriotism, a love of their nation that is not seen in many other countries.

I think I'm going to enjoy your thread

I'm still trying to figure out The Mullet. And Ice Tea, although I drink lots of it.
Oh yeah... Creamed Corn and Grits. I don't do grits :(

I never tried grits or cream corn. We did try an all you can eat buffet KFC somewhere in the lower mid west. After the 10th piece of hot and extra crispy I was cured of KFC for a few years.

Do you mean the mullet haircut? I didn't see too many over there from memory. Always loved the bought Ice tea. But only ever had it in England oddly enough. Never had it home made.

Took me about six months of being here, before I actually tried iced tea :)
It was all down hill from there. I'd tried to do Coka-Cola, which didn't work with the heat at the time. I then tried Dr. Pepper, which led to sudden gastric intervention. Finally gave in to the iced tea :)

I remember when I flew here, I think it was like Mid July and was pretty cold in England. I'd come over in a Caterpillar hooded coat.
Landed, got through customs in Atlanta, picked up my bag and headed for the door...
The sliding doors swooshed open and, Wham... The heat hit me.
I've flown to a lot of places around most of Europe and the Med, but the GA Heat and humidity that day were something totally different.
Got to LaGrange, and that first night the town was hit by three mini-tornados.
I was sitting on the back deck, hot and humid, when suddenly everything stopped, Dead.
About thirty seconds later a freight train of wind hit the apartments. Again, a new experience :D

I would at times kill for my sweet iced tea. It is my primary drink lol.
