I'm looking for something nice to wear to my upcoming wedding and really like the look of this:
    http://www.tissot.ch/?mod_collections/action_getsubfamilies/colid_0005/famid_0125/refid_VDA2M182MTBfMTZfMDUyXzAw

but I was really hoping to get something with an automatic mechanical movement.

I also like how that one easily fits into my budget.

I'm looking for a really simple face in black with a non-gold coloured casing. No particular strap requirements. Budget of $500.

    Please help me find something.

Looks like it is OK to post external commercial links ?

For that price range, I think that you get a lot of value from Orient or Seiko....

I have been really tempted by the first one I listed (Orient FDB08002B), which reminds me of this $8,000 Zenith,

FWIW, I have not purchased from the companies above (well, except for Amazon).

It's slightly more than your price range, but Archimede is a good company to look into. Similar style to Stowa, but much less expensive.

    Orient

I have an orient and would buy another in a heartbeat. You can find coupon codes for up to 50% off floating around on the internet. Read up on the watcuseek forums, they are pretty good.

Thats a beaut. Digging the engraving on the back.

Post some wrist shots when it arrives.

    Oh crap.

Okay . . . Honestly, I thought you already knew this. But, when it comes to watches NEVER buy a luxury or high-end brand off of eBay. The crooks out there will copy ANY remotely popular watch model. Yes, even the cheap ones that most folks would assume would never be copied. Amazon is a good source for medium or lower priced watches. But to be safe, I prefer not to buy high-end or luxury brands off of Amazon. When it comes to watches, just say "no" to eBay. Seriously, with the higher-end brands, you're more likely to get a fake than the real thing off of the Bay.

I've had plenty of good deals on watches on ebay. Buy the seller- and it looks like the OP did, so i wouldnt worry.

You guys can take your chances. But I've seen individuals on watch forums get cheated by eBay sellers with nearly 100% ratings. It happens constantly. I always hear, "Buy the Seller." Over the internet, it's tough as Hell to actually get to know anyone to a point where buying the seller is a realistic option.

    Understood and it's good advice.
In this instance I was able to find knowledgeable watch people posting about good experiences for the last 4-5 years.

I always prefer to buy a watch (and pretty much anything else) from a store where I can see and test the product first hand. But to each his own.
