Waiting for my Mil Tac Hawg to get here.
Somebody needs to stick up for the HAWG in this thread:
Fixed it for ya TARFU...
Hey man, from one D.I.C.K. to another, how would you compare the linchpin and HAWG? I had a hawg that byebye in an IED and need to replace it with another small bag. I had been thinking the linchpin.
Yeah, ok. LOL.
It has the looks, but how do you attach water bottle at the sides?
With 100 oz. of water in the bladder I don't worry about bottles hanging off the side.
used this pack all through my time in the Corps and its still going strong!
Is that an FNX 45 Tactical? Very nice! Would love to see her with the suppressor on. Pic?
Hi guys, it's almost been a year since I bought my camelbak hawg.
Being a molle lover, I can't believe camelbak ditched side molles for HAWG!!
I'll have to stick to my old outdated model for now. BOO......
Here's my usual setup with HAWG, just 2 molle II canteen/utility pouches.
Strapped down when it's not in use.
Before taking off
Enjoy your camelbaks!

I am fairly new to the forum. I have a 1st gen Camelbak H.A.W.G that I have used almost everyday for 6 years. I wish I could still find the Camelbak hawgs with the molle on the sides.
I use it for running, swimming, climbing and out and about town. It has recently started to dethread in some of the pockets but I hand stitched them back up.
if anyone still knows where to find the older hawgs please let me know so I can stock up. This bag is perfect for what I need.

Just picked up my second.. A Motherlode.
Anyone know the model? (or age.. Cause it doesn't seem current?) Webbing only on the lower compartment. None on sides and none on top compartment.
Also, anyone know what these velcro backed straps/webbing things on the bottom of each side panel are for?
Good looking camel
never see this model before, I believe it's a old model, this is my Motherlode, bought it 2-3 years ago in Ebay, USD99, very good buy!
Looks nice. Might be the picture but looks lighter than most I've seen in that pattern.
I bought mine from a guy in Craigslist for 60usd. Said he bought and used twice and just found it when moving. Had been in a box in his garage for at least 3 years he thought. Maybe longer. I was curious and emailed him today and that's what he said.
So, from digging around a bit I think mine is a second generation Motherlode. The first had the vertical daisy chain without PALS webbing. The second, which I think is like mine, had some PALS on the bottom front compartment (4 rows with a space in the center), none on the top, and none on the sides. It has some larger webbing at the bottom of each side that is velcro backed - more of a traditional (non-mil) style.
Here are some pics of my Motherlode's twin (NOT MY PACK):
I want to get some side pouches but I'm not sure which type. The guy I bought it from said the tag was marked Ranger Green when he bought it so I would like to match it. Mine looks very close to OD in person so that might be my best bet. The pouches would go up behind the compression strap and I'm thinking/hoping that will be enough to keep them steady because I don't have any webbing on the sides to attach to other than the bottom. I like the Camelbak bottle pouches for the sake of matching, but they only come in black, coyote, and foilage.
I think the Maxpedition holders would be too big. Maybe I should try Tactial Tailor...
From the Deathmatch Review of the Camelbak Milspec HAWG that will be going up on blog this week...
