Thanks. Didn't realize Cabela's was getting special editions -- although the Cabela's one is orange, not red. Nor did I realize REI had a SE. And wouldn't ya know -- there are both a REI and a Cabela's in my neck of the woods. Hmm. L'chaim! Moshe ben David
Input requested, please. I got the Free K2X a few days ago. Was so pumped because I’m Crater fan, and this knife was going to be a great upgrade. But I’m really not that pumped after a few days. Has anyone else gotten one yet? Here’s the sweet, but a little salty, knife. It has all the things I like, but I already found and fixed some things that I was less than pumped on: It’s really big for what it should be. But the blade and tools are strong. There is some looseness when the knife is open that allows some movement where the blade meets the scales. Not bad, but more than I expected from LM. So I added a two-side torx nut/bolt doodad that adds a little tightness And the hole in the blade just isn’t that great. I added a thumb stud for a more positive thumb-feel (can’t believe I just used the term thumb-feel). Same for the grip on the release buttons, which I ground a ridge in. Overall, the things I did actually help. But I’m not sure if I really don’t like it that much based on my expectations, or if I’m comparing to my Crater and need to get used to it. I’ve literally had it for less than a week! Interested in your thoughts. My Crater for reference. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Well, I'm replying to myself. This knife, with the alterations I made, is great. I got accustomed to the larger size pretty quick. Highly recommended after some solid use in my warehouse, prepping a house for a training fire on my fire department, prepping my house and yard for winter, a small car project, and general daily use. Thats about the most work it can see in a two week period, and I'm pretty happy.
