Just looking for personal opinions. My personal opinion is the EOD.. I tend to mess with cables , wires and such. The Utility seems to be more geared toward working on firearms.. What would be your choice? Why?

The only REAL difference I see functionaly is the spike for placing primers and the plier grip. I think the utility has a drift for removing pins. I would not need the spike, but could use the drift.

The pliers are my only Waterloo.... I like the idea of the of the EOD crimpers and such.... But even though I would find them useful. The standard grips would come in more useful in the long run. Still debating...

I chose the Utility, because i didnt see myself ever needing the primer pin or the crimp notch Plus, everywhere I shopped charged a $10-$20 premium for the EOD vs the Utility, so it was pretty much a no-brainer.

I wound up paying about $120 all-in from a brick-and-mortar. I am most surprised by the usefulness of the scope wrench that's included and rides in the back of the molle sheath.

The pin and spike are replaceable, LM sells them as seperate parts, and as far as I know, interchangeable(make sure of that..) So you could get the pliers you want, and swap out those to suit your needs.

They aren't interchangeable, the nested plastic piece that the pin/spike rest again when close are different in size (matching the pin/spike exactly). If you like the spike...and want the regular plier head...there is only one options. MOD!

Take the spike/plastic piece and put it on the regular MUT. I have been waiting for some time to dye my EOD plastic pieces black so I can swap out the Pin for the Spike on my Cerberus (my blacked out MUT)

I went with the utility, as I had no need for crimpers. If you need a spike, you can sharpen the punch, and/or buy a spare to keep as a punch. I was sent the EOD first by mistake, so have had a play with both, but the EOD pliers are a specialist tool IMO :)

    You are bang on!

I have both and use the utility for EDC and only the EOD when I need to crimp.

Opinion...unless you are going to crimp lots and lots of fuse caps, the crimpers reduce the usefulness of the plier head.

I've always thought about sharpening the crimper insides and use it as some bypass shears.

    Tactical pruner!!

Unbelievable..... So I have been tracking my Leatherman mut thru the US mail service. It arrived today , so I went to get it. I picked the envelope up and knew something was instantly wrong. I opened it and there was nothing in there. I called the company and they were explaining how they packaged it and the items used. I said what about the clear packing tape. The fella said .. Um Sir, we don't use clear packing tape.. Someone at the freaking post office, cut a hole in the envelope. Pulled out my leatherman & resealed the envelope. I HATE THE US POSTAL SERVICE!.. On second hand.. The seller refunded my money, so off I go to shop ... AGAIN
