Hey, brother! So that was you! Thanks again, good sir! More info on the Piranha or the scammer? None on the scammer. I could possibly find out answers on the Piranha?

Sent LM an e-mail about the PocketToolX line and they replied saying they would be available in mid to late September. They called one of the new tools a Z-Rex, confusing as there is already a Z-Rex LM tool (Googled it) but not sure if they still offer the current Z-Rex.

Omg, if it's that Ti adjustable wrench I am buying 2 :)

It was called the Wrex on the PTX website.

Since you can't really patent the design of most pocket tools, why did leatherman bought PTX and didn't just started their own line of single-piece tools?
hopefully this move will give us more useless shiny toys to buy... and CHEAP! :bounce:

You actually can claim intellectual property on any design that you've signed, designed and made public. However, winning over a court case is much stronger if it gets notarized papers.

I'm sure you right, seeing apple is trying to patent flat rectangular tablets as a "design", but I don't see how anyone could patent the design of the "brewzer"... like many other pocket tools, it's just a bottle-opener with a flat edge that functions as a screwdriver.

    :censored: Intellectual property! :giggle:

You can also trademark the profile, thats another avenue. The brewzers profile is actually quite unique so I bet it could be done.

Also, I only argue this because this is my bread and butter as a product designer, the design of the iPad and iPhone in particular is actually quite distinct. Sure there were similar devices in the past, but but none as distinct as a single slab with a single button. There are reasons why it's copied and they are filing for IP.

Just a bottle opener or not, there is consideration and iteration before it was released as a product. :)

I've always wanted to get one but for me was a bit too expensive. Hopefully it'll be cheaper now.

The shape of an object can be trademarked not patented unless the shape itself provides some new or unique benefit.

So the Piranha I purchased before Leatherman bought PTX...do I get 25 years warranty then? I doubt the Piranha will break but still...

So apparently LM managed to set up a meeting between pockettoolx and LED lenser engineers, the Mako and Piranha now makes 25 and 13 lumens respectively. :D

Ha! That is some shiny steel. Now, if they can just do this for the Brewzer too, millions could be saved from late night beer opening mishaps.

I guess the Piranha is more of a floody light at only 15 meters. They don't list the run times though.

I think it's interesting that Leatherman is leaving out info on several aspect of the tools and giving them lower number of parts.
