And thanks to you guys for giving me the idea with the arbor press! Thanks to the modifications done to mine i am now able to punch stitching holes with the pricking iron, punch large holes with hole punches, mark leather with stamps, set rivets etc. All very effortless and without hammering. And all that for $25 and a beer for my buddy who did the drilling on the punch! :)

Could you post a comparison picture? I'm not sure the original looked like.

Here's the previous version of the wallet.

Removed the diagonal cut for the cards and added a pull tab.

    Changed the pill fob loop.

Cool idea to use these punch threads. And great work, too!

[IMG][IMG]Some of my ammo straps prior to stitching. Made from vintage ammo pouches, you can see the original stitch lines on the straps and slots I used on the keepers. Often soldiers wrote and drew on their pouches, you can see some traces of these markings on some of my straps.

A few of my recent projects. My first incursions into leather goods. All hand stitched. I'm seriously considering buying a leather sewing machine. It's addictive.

    Beautiful work!!

Only thing I would suggest is swapping those snaps for traditional buttons / buckles. The snaps will wear out from the vertical forces imposed by the carry handle (if they're the only attachment point), and pushing them too hard may impact the lappy.

Just my $0.02! =) Excellent work, regardless.

Thanks! Used blue loctite on them, so they oughta stay put nicely.

Here's an oldie but a daily.

Keychain I made for my '66 Mustang, used on my '88 F150, and now on my '99 Escort.

New bag for my Bushbox made out of Nappa calf leather. The leather is very soft but not exactly a pleasure to work with i have to say.

    I know the feeling.

I imagine that little fold at the top of the pockets was torture but it looks fan-freaking-tastic! Great work!

Thank you! I really feel the urge to sew some 4mm veg tan bull hide now... that wobbly soft stuff was no fun! :D

I have quite a big piece of the wobbly stuff left though... i will have to see what to do with it.

Yep. I've got a bunch of odd pieces of oiled utility hide that's just kinda biding it's time.. very soft but again, harder to work with than you'd think. Plus, it tends to stretch too much for my use. We'll see!

Had to whip out the SLR for a few pics, the phone camera wouldn't do her justice.

Here's my baby, finally done. =)

I don't have any kids, nor are any on the radar, but I'd like to imagine them fighting over this many, many years from now. Meanwhile, I can't wait to spend the rest of my life with it!

Maiden voyage to CA on Friday.. gotta make up a luggage tag by then. ;-)
