Mandala knot variations. The Chinese website photo tutorial page shows a couple of different ties, after the true lovers knot at the start, and my photo shows each variation, just slightly different from the other. I went with the simpler one for my video tutorial and the example shown as the pocket knife lanyard/fob. I have been making Paracord Awareness Ribbons lately. This batch is in yellow. My brother-in-law is a lifer in the Navy. I know there are a lot of people on here that are/were in the service (thank all of you for your service), or have a loved one in the service. Which leads me to a question: Is it appropriate to give one of these to my brother-in-law, or do I just give them to my sister, niece and nephew. Because I have no idea if people in the service show the yellow ribbon, or if it is just friends and family that do. I don't want to ask my sister, as I was hoping to surprise them.
wrist lanyard/water bottle carrier The right hand image shows the lanyard as designed. I made a extended lanyard/diamond knot and added a sliding solomon bar to tighten the loop around the wrist as desired. I realized that the bar could slide the other way. I put the loop around the lip of a water bottle and tightened the bar. Holds securely. extended lanyard knot tutorial
I really admire the machete! That's a mean looking blade!. What kind is it? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
I believe it was originally more for families and friends to remember loved ones in service that are deployed until they return safely. However as a veteran myself, I would appreciate receiving one and I think he would as well. Would act the same to help remind him of family and friends back home that care for home him and encourage him during tough times... Just my humble opinion. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Thank you for the reply, Albino Yeti. I ended up making one for him as well. I saw them on Saturday. They seemed to really appreciate them.
Tied up a batch of monkey's fists lanyards/fobs. Been a long while since I'd tied many at one time, and had to stop when my hands/fingers said, 'No more!', and cramped up, lol... monkey's fists lanyards/fobs by David Hopper (Stormdrane), on Flickr
Was looking to use up some leftover 'mustard' yellow paracord from a recent project and tied a spool knit lanyard with sailor's cross knot (single 20 ft long strand of cord). At first, I viewed the color as hideous, but now it's kinda growing on me. Tucked a 2" x 1/8" firesteel inside the cross, in case I need to 'pray for fire', lol...
How do you store your paracord? I have mine bundled up and have been trying to find spools to attach to paracord to store them.
Knot tying friend, Mabel Marble, dubs this knot #785A, as she was trying to tie #785 from 'The Ashley Book of Knots', but ended up with this instead, because the book has some errors in the drawn diagrams... I tied this one with some dark green paracord, directly onto my Kershaw Emerson CQC-4K edc pocket knife.
