Looking at the original post, the snake knot will work, but from this sounds like he did something else: "MWK with alot of wraps", meaning atleast he started off with a Matthew Walker knot and finished with one, and just has wraps in the center of the two.........

Snake knot with two collors will come of a lot better I think but it will look like two halves mashed to one, really wish we could see the side of that laynard.

Huge fan of your work and your tutorials on YouTube! I am a subscriber and I'm practicing the 4 bight turkes head.

Where do you get your cord from? I have easy access to paracord and 2mm cord but not 1.4mm.

Thanks for all the great inspiration.

Griff3n you are correct. Guess I should take time to read and not just look at the pictures (no wonder my wife doesn't believe me when I tell her I just read the articles in playboy?!?!?).

I would have thought a MWK would have ended more round with so many wraps not cylindrical like shown, so I concur maybe started and finished as MWK with center wraps. A side/front view would be help. Stormdrane also has a good tutorial on the 2 lead turks head that makes a nice knife lanyard. He is one talented individual when it comes to this stuff.

Yeah Stormdranes blog is full of nice items. The dog lead the jacktheclipper did was pretty interesting, I worked out a test of it last night.

Those turk-heads drive me batty, I can do the simple 3 bight 4 lead one, that's the short one right, but turning out the longer one I butcher not enough focus I am gauessing :-D

As the text says it's a Mathew Walker knot with a lot of wraps. Making one that long isn't too easy. A hangman knot would look very simalar and be much easier to tie.

lovely figure with a lovely lanyard but sadly its attached to a sharpie and a teeny sak... time for a big ole knife and a giant cold steel sharkie with a nice paracord lanyard

I think Essexman did a fine job and a big +1 for getting his GF/Wife to model it .
The SAK is a fine knife and the lanyard is more than sufficient and made of paracord .
And last but not least; ether someone put salt in your coffee, or you need to lay off the steroids .

The "MWK" is a Matthew Walker Knot and a google search will find a lot of tutorials. There is a tutorial on Chris Reeve's site for his style of lanyard, also called a Scout Coil.

    - thanks for the comments about my good wife, made her smile. ;D

The neck lanyard was used by me at a craft fair the other week. Very useful. The fair was held in a local church, so I did not require "a big ole knife and a giant cold steel sharkie" thankyou.

For another MWK tutorial see here - http://gr8-knots.com/Matthew_Walker.htm

bigger guy generally stick to bigger toys

and if you know the sharkie it has no way to attach a lanyard so you need to paracord up that sucker to make a lanyard to attach to the neck lanyard

This has been riding around my neck for over a year without failure .
And yes, I am familiar with the Cold Steel Sharkie .
This is in my pocket, used daily.
And among other blades carried daily, this is in my bag for when I need it .

I was just saying that you didn't have to be so hard on the guy for simply showing us his knots .

    Truce ?

Not exactly, Truth is I was writing in defense of Essexman and showing an example of how superficial appearances can be very deceiving .
This is a Knot tying thread, not how big is your _____ fill in the blank thread .

There are other threads and forums for that .

    It's no ZT or Tyrade but I love it ! I'm a 'Cutter' not a "Chopper' when using knives, so it's perfect for me (^;
After handling other JYD models, this one seems to have a bit more care put in it, must be the blade ?
OK, No more knife talk for me on this thread ! It's for Knots !!! ,)
