I have an urge for a while to get a blank kukri blade/kit, and make a half-custom kukri handle and blade-finish... Where (online) can i find items like this? On a side note, I'd like to say that I don't really think that i'll be using it much (aside for the inevitable Z invasion), and the whole thing is more of a DIY project.
Just took a look on eBay and they range from $35 to $249 (for high end damascus blades). Here's the weblink: http://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_from=R40&_trksid=p5197.m570.l1313&_nkw=kukri+blank&_sacat=See-All-Categories I don't know what the blade temper would be on many of these (just a few list that), but since it sounds like a fun project it may not be a big deal to you. I'm sure there are several online (non-eBay) stores that sell such blanks, too. I've used this company for several knife projects: Jantz at: http://www.knifemaking.com/default.asp Don't know if they have kukri blades or not. Since you're in Israel I don't know if shipping charges from the USA to you would be cost-prohibitive or not.
If you aren't going to be doing a lot of chopping with it, I'd go with stainless, as you'll be able to make / keep it pretty. Stainless will still be more than adequate for at least 75 <eibmoz< decapitations between sharpenings.
