In the movie "Proof of Life" Russel Crowe cuts a guy's throat with the serated blade of a Gerber multitool. Hannibal Lector uses a Spyderco Harpy to open the cop's gut in "Hannibal". Gibb's on NCIS has carried a Benchmade Mini Rukus before.
In Under siege 2: dark territory Segal and the villain go at it. As I remember it Segal had a Cold Steel Tanto and the villain had Gerber dagger.
Heres a classic ... The switchblade from the movie "The Outsiders" Here is a link I found about it (not sure if this is true or not) http://marsonfire.livejournal.com/39323.html#cutid1
I can't remember if it was the show "Leverage" or "Dark Blue" but in one of those shows, a Kershaw Blur was used and got a nice closeup.
Classic Gerber BMF in The Rock carried by Sean Connery. In Tears of the Sun, B. Willis had a dozen strapped to him, but I couldn't make out any.
Someone may have already posted this. I've been watching the HBO series "The Wire" lately. I never watched it when it originally aired. I've only started the second season. In the second episode of the second season the "bad guys" are beating a man sitting on a chair to extract information out of him. The head bad guy comes in and calmly talks to him and after he get what he wants has his thug standing behind him kill him by cutting his throat. When the thug cleans the knife you see that it is a Spyderco Delica. Parawolfe
Maybe just slightly off topic, but still fun. In one episode of CSI some one has been robbing people as they pull up to the bank's night deposit. The CSI guys are in the lab examining a destroyed deposit bad. One of the male techs asks Grisome : "What did they use to open it?" Grisome says: "A BFK." A female tech who just walked in asks: "What's a BFK?" Grisome says: "A big knife."
http://www.satansbarber.co.uk/movieknives/lost/lost.htm In TV show Lost the character Locke has a collection of knives with him that he had on the plane. 1. Full Size USMC Ka Bar with serrated edge and coating removed (used by Boone) 2. Tekna Wilderness Edge 3. United Cutlery Sentry Tanto 4. Master Jaguar (used by Kate) 5. United Cutlery Delta Defender 6. Buck Nighthawk (possibly a copy) 7. Master Bowie Atrain

What type of SAK is that? I doubt it's historically accurate, but it doesn't look like a Vic, maybe a Wenger? Parawolfe
In fact, it is both of which you doubt. It's an old Victorinox Officer knife. It has the original awl Victorinox used, and the scales are consistent with the old WWII-era Officer (i.e. the current Spartan). With that said, the particular knife may be just a couple years newer than the year in which the movie is set, but definitely better than throwing in a new Spartan. Oh, and it's been discussed over on multitool.org, that's where I got this information. XD
That's interesting. Other than the rivets and awl it doesn't look very old. The scales even look like they are a brushed plastic. A while back I bought a Vic Hiker and it had a "free" utility knife thrown in as part of the package. The utility knife has that brushed plastic, in red though. The technical adviser was very detailed in that movie. I saw the movie and remember that scene. I didn't notice the knife though. Parawolfe
Here is the thread discussing the knife. They tracked down a model in superb condition, that's for certain.
I read the thread on Multitool.org. I checked out that link that led to the .pdf showing the various stages of both the Soldier and Officers knives. The one thing I noticed is that all the models of the Officers were red scaled, yet the one in that picture is black. I'm still a bit skeptical it's authentic but even if it isn't they definitely keep to the time period details of that movie. I may have to watch it again to see if they kept to the details in all aspects. I'm thinking if they went to the trouble of using a knife from that period that would only be seen for a few seconds then there wouldn't be any period flaws. Nothing obvious at least. Thanks for the thread, it was very interesting. Parawolfe
Anyone know what kind of knives the Joker used in The Dark Knight? There are a couple of scenes, any one in which he gives his "origins" stories (which are all bogus...super cool), and the scene where his possessions are being inventoried.
