Bottom line, Knives or Guns doesn't matter. Don't elaborate to strangers what it is your carrying if seen and asked. Just say " a (insert brand) or just say a knife. Same with a gun, just say a (- - - - -), the more they know the more they'll parrot in court. well meaning or not, you never know what the oppositions planning. But I bet it isn't any good.

    This.

Look up your knife laws and pay attention to terms. Here in Maryland it could be very important that I call mine a 'penknife' rather than a knife because the laws are worded against you like A, B, C and D and any other dangerous or deadly weapon of any kind, whatsoever... and there is only one exception for a knife: penknife.

Examples such as this are crystal clear, and rest assured just one of thousands of little pit falls designed to hang you up, designed by either ignorant people or those that wanted to get the heck out of the meeting at the end of their day in the "Legal Eagles nest".

I just wish they would do something standard, Opinel seems to get that kinda right.

My thinking would have been to just have model numbers. For example a f355h would be a framelock 3.5 inch long 5/4 inch high half serrated blade. S302p would be a slipjoint 3.0 inch 2/4 inch high plain edge.

It would make shopping much easier...

Resurrecting a dead thread, but thought it would be a nice little wrap up. Tuesday I went to my semi-local knife store and bought a knife. Well known manufacturer: Spyderco. Can you guess which model?

    ... wait for it ....

    Anticipation getting you?

Yes, the knife that could just as well be named the Slicing Goddess of All Things Pocket, but is instead named "Delica".

Nothing wrong with pink, or a knife with a non-tough name... my latest knife was a pink Squeak and I like it so much I bought three more! (I sort of had to, they were on sale for $19.99!)

Skipjack! Hilarious man, I caught one of those when I was about 10 and thought it was a bass until the old man educated me. If anyone could pull that off as a knife name it would be spyderco.
