How about Triple Aught Design's key tool? And Prometheus' EKO.

I got that Quickey from the Indiegogo campaign and it sucked. Terrible quality and Hawker never responded to any of my emails.

Is this the same one offered by Nite Ize? I have one and like it- advertisers exagerate for a living but it works ok and is a valued part of my chain!

I bought the Nite Ize also but it wasn't any better. The finish was a lot nicer though. I stuck with the Swiss-Tech Utili-Key.

Anyone have the Prometheus EKO? It looks interesting. I originally bought the Quickey for the "box cutter" feature but it was a bust. Wondering if anyone has experience with the EKO.

I just received the EKO earlier this week. I think the knife part could be useful as it is made fairly thick, but with a sharp blade. However, I have a couple of concerns:

    1. It would be really easy to cut the crap out of yourself if you try to use the bottle opener because your one or two fingers would need to be wrapped around the exposed blade side.

    2. The EKO comes 'nested' in a flat piece of what looks to be wood. It would store better, in my opinion, in some type of small kydex sheath for the blade end, while the 'key's' head is left exposed as a grip.

    3. It's a hair shorter than a regular house key: I think a bit more length would have been helpful.

So, I don't think it's the "answer to our prayers" ... eventually someone will figure this out.

How thick is it compared to a house key? I think my pickpocket is perfect as a bottle opener so I'm not too concerned with that function but how's the box cutting feature? I order a lot of things online and it's annoying having to get that tape residue on my knives.

I'd estimate it as twice as thick as a common, brass Kwikset KW-1 key. I'm not really using it as a box cutter, more like a cut-the-tape-on-the-box thing. But, just fooling with it out in the garage it seems it would be fine for scoring cardboard, but I think the blade is too short to cut through more than one layer of cardboard with ease.

TT Pocket Tools makes some tools with a box cutter option. It is semi sharp edge on the corner of the pry tip, not sharp enough to cut you, but will open boxes all day long. I would post pics but the ones I have are at home.

I found it interesting that Prometheus sorted the EKO into 6 thickness groups, then beveled the blade based on thickness, to get the just right sharpness. I thought it would be easier to hand grind to the correct sharpness.

The bottom two on the left and the bottom two on the right.

Not the best pic if you google the maker there are some better pics on his site.

I like this one because it looks like a key and it holds your whole key ring – Johnny
