Light and easy to carry, it works as a complement to my other edc items. If my pockets are empty this will get me by.
With my new brass Griffon mini
Dug the Gerber Shortcut multitool out of a survival kit/tin, where it's spent most of the years that I've had it, for a spin on the EDC keychain...
Made this key fob yesterday.

I've made a copper shopping cart key, etching copper is fun but the ferric chloride is becoming toxic waste
Hadn't seen this before. Is it Gerber's answer to the LM Micra? With scissors instead of pliers I'm guessing the answer is yes; so what advantages if any over the Micra?

The Gerber Shortcut is a discontinued multitool, first produced around 2004, I think. There's a plier based version called the 'Clutch'. They're functional, but I see them as a step down in quality/performance compared with Leatherman's keychain sized tools, like the Micra and Squirts.
I've had this one so long that I forget when I originally bought it, but remember at the time that I'd rather keep a Leatherman on the keychain and put the Gerber in a survival kit/tin, rarely taking it out. It works, all the tools do their job, but it is slightly larger than the Leatherman tools, and doesn't feel up to the same quality fit and finish, although it was less expensive, so I was satisfied for what I paid for it.
Wow. You've just inspired me to dig out my Clutch. I carried that thing for about a decade. Even before I'd heard the term "EDC".
