This week I'm beta testing Gamble's gear pull in brass (I think kickstarter project is supposed to launch is June)!

The gear pull is similar in length to the kaijin fishhook and the mega dangler and it is a little bit longer than the pickpocket.

The main principle is the same for all of the, a bent piece of metal that helps you to attach your keys to your pocket or your belt. The triangular arrangement of the 3 holes on the gear pull make quite a difference though! While things attached to the both holes of the mega dangler or the pickpocket feel kind of strange when you "fold" the keychain together, everything seems to hang much more naturally on the gear pull, especially with a bigger split ring in the middle.

I also really dig the style with all the decorative holes! Especially on the brass version it gives it some kind of steampunk look!

I'm loving that helmet bead! And what spring clip is that?

I wonder if shapeways.com or similar would be a good idea for producing a hook like that. Customers could just order one, they print/ship it, and drop a check in the mail for you, if I'm not mistaken.

Anyway, here's mine. Not a grail setup or anything, but functional for now.

First real "tool" on my key chain. Not a spendy item but could come in handy. Good ole P38 :)

I love the fancier keychains and working on my own, but there is a lot to be said for functional and plain. My car chain has mismatched colours and different materials but the things are all there for a reason.

This gets clipped to whichever car I'm driving.

Thanks, glad you like the setup! The spartan bead is from a Russian guy I found by chance (the same who makes the wolf beads). By spring clip you mean the mini carabiner? That's a 26mm titanium clip I picked up at the survival depot. I think it's the Maratac design, not the McGizmo.

Shapeways is great for certain things but they are limited in the materials they work with. Their "stainless steel" is actually steel dust held together by bronze which looks IMHO not as nice as real steel, bronze, brass or copper. I'm also not so sure about the springiness of their materials. I guess any kind of keychain hook is better made by bending actual metal than by 3D printing.
And just on a side note: Shapeways unfortunately uses UPS for shipping. That means at least for international customers that you have to sit at home for hours, waiting for the UPS guy in order to pay insane brokerage and custom fees which I never had to pay with USPS or other carriers so far....

Sometimes mismatched colors is just color coding in disguise.

"Themeing" in materials, I could see doing.... Colors, which generally means anodized materials... so much fodder for intentional adodization pocket abuse..

Apparently, the OCD or whatever doesn't mind scuffed steel, brass, titanium, whatever... but huddles in the corner in a fetal position over the daily shredding of "applied" colors off of metal. Hmmmm.... I wonder if that particular freak flag comes with free tassels. :rolleyes_revamped:

There is more than one Russian bead maker! ;) Khtima is selling the cool Pirates, Predators etc. The wolf and spartan beads are from a different guy.

Amen to that. Oh, I seem to have themed on 'plastic' for this particular rig. Time to look for a plastic front door key. :p (had one once, not seen them around for a long time.. )
