It pains me to report that after 3 solid months of edc the leek is getting tossed. I come to you asking if I have done something wrong. The mechanics of this blade have to be constantly tweeked. Unfortunate though because I love the blade profile. Anyways to turn a rant constructive can anyone recommend a similar blade of higher quality. Sent from my ADR6400L using Tapatalk 2
Yeah im looking for an all metal design, I like relatively flat edges, easier for me to put a good edge on. Considering a tonto style like the push. I have a budget around 250 so keep the suggestions comming Also would like a deep carry pocket clip and a full plain edge Sent from my ADR6400L using Tapatalk 2
My s30v G10 leek has been awesome. One things I don't like about all assisted flippers, they do tend to pop open on impact with the ground, can get you some nervous looks in public. Its a nice feature on my leek that I can engage a lock if desired.
There's a sliding piece of plastic held In place with a movable screw on the leeks I've seen that holds the blade closed if wanted.
I've carried a Leek for 10 years now. What issues did you have? I've carried 4 different ones, one I gave away, one was stolen, and one I replaced to switch from combo blade to plain edge. I've never had trouble with any of them, so maybe it was just something with your knife? Don't abandon the leek, let us help! lol.
before I can suggest a different knife, I have to ask what difficulties you are running into with the Leek. I know a great many people (including myself) have carried them with great satisfaction, so am more than a little curious what is wrong with the one you have. I am thinking it is perhaps something Kershaw can make right with warrantee service... As far as recommending a alternative, there are a great many knives that may fit the bill, so need some more information as to what you are looking for. Size? Lock type? assisted open? bulky or slim? Just based on what you've said so far, sounds to me like a good Ti framelock may be up your alley. A Bradley Alias would be a good contender, as would something like a Benchmade Subrosa or a ZT 0550. Or perhaps a linerlock is more your style, then try having a look at Emersons. Or if you want another assisted opener, what about a BMK 790?
I I'm having issues with the blade binding uptowards full extension. Something internal is going on. It is loose towards closed position but I have to pull it to the locked position Sent from my ADR6400L using Tapatalk 2
Size - 3 to 4 in blade Lock type - no preference as long as it is solid assisted open - preferred, I can carry autos too bulky or slim, I have large hands and the leek was bordering too small if that helps. I have been looking at the Ti framelocks. ZR560 is on the list but they are pricy. I like the Benchmade Subrosa but I would perfer all metal construction. I don't really like linerlocks as they have been a pain for me with gloves on in the past. I like Emersons tonto double v blade profile. I am.not sure if I like the hook thing on most his blades though. Sent from my ADR6400L using Tapatalk 2
Definitely just an issue with your particular knife. I highly recommend you contact Kershaw for warranty work. They have great customer service. I realize warrantying a new knife isn't ideal, but rest assured your's is the exception to the rule. Mine has been dirty, wet, muddy and still functioned flawlessly.
i loved my leek, just open it up and see what the problem is. there are youtube videos showing how to take it apart and get it back together. sounds like it needs cleaned out, maybe a new torsion bar and re-lubed. that being said check out the spyderco chokwe.
How about a Benchmade 470? love this thing http://www.amazon.com/Benchmade-Emissary-470-Osborne/dp/B004RS6RS0/ref=wl_it_dp_o_pdT1_S_nC?ie=UTF8&colid=2H081NQ2L6O5C&coliid=I2V20NVDELB6GD
