My wife has been sewing lately. She made me these great handkerchiefs! There are three different ones; green, grey chevron, and a combo of the two. Extremely simple project. After seeing a bunch of people on these forums posting their handkerchiefs, I realized how useful they can be. Btw, the woven basket tray is my usual nightstand dump. I've had it forever but was using it as decoration. I think it may have belonged to my parents. I recently requisitioned it for my nightly edc dump.
More handkerchiefs curtesy of Mrs wife! She sewed them herself so they mean more to me than store bought ones.
*WARNING!* This is a rant, posted to my own thread. Is what it is, lol. I am not happy with multi tools. I'm on the search for something "just right." Whatever that means! Here are the ones I've owned: Multiple classic Saks Some version of sak that had corkscrew and Phillips head (I think. I was very young). Leatherman Wave (original) Leatherman Style PS and CS Gerber small multi tool x2 (dimes?) Etc. My favorite is the Wave. But that sucka is way too heavy and bulky to carry around. Great addition to my Max Fatty. But here's my problem. I don't like the design of plier multi tools. Too bulky and too cumbersome. The two segments, each being a single handle of the plier, can only have tools on one side in order to provide room for the pliers when closed. That's a major waste of space, especially since I rarely ever use pliers. When I need them, I have real a plier tool or I use my wave. Either way, I don't carry. So that leaves SAK type multi tools. However, my major beef with them is the set of tools. Most of that junk is unnecessary for my personal needs. Especially blades, since I prefer to carry a folder (my spyderco techno lately). I've been carrying my LM style ps/cs but it's pretty darn clunky since I don't use the pliers. I absolutely love the nail file. It's the best I've ever found on a pocket knife! Flat tip for cuticle pushing or small driver. ... So... What? I've decided that if I want a slim multitool, with a useful toolset, then I will have to mod it myself. Pretty daunting task so idk. Here's my requirements: Alox slim 84mm or 93mm Titanium scales, duh Nail file with flat tip (like LM style) Scissors Phillips head driver (full open, not 90 degree angle to body of mt) Awl Strong Tweezers All stonewashed! Maybe something else, not sure. But realistically speaking, those are the only tools I would really use as an every day carry. I've got a folder, a carabiner with bottle opener and wrench openings, a prybar, a pen, and a flashlight. I think that about covers it.
Red Vs. Blue! My perfect pair: EDC Thread: http://edcforums.com/index.php?threads/Kal%27s-Repository.121857/
I like your thread. I would love a tool with the same specs. I carry a SAK Executive plus a Gerber Shard to cover your listed requirements except the finishes and awl. The Shard is a pry and cap lifter and the Phillips head works in an EDC context. The Executive is only 74mm so I don't notice carrying it but its not as small as a Rambler (on my keychain in one setup I carry a Manager as it has the pen BTW I have the same Ti clip and split ring set - it was my gateway EDC item along with a Quantum D!) I also have a Vic Director which has the same tools as the Exec but thin stainless steel scales with a barley knurl pattern. Picture below shows the Exec plus Shard plus the Dime which I do not usually carry with anything else. I like your Style key mod. Do you outline how its done anywhere or is it a straightforward process?
Thanks! I've been thinking about pickup up a sak for a while, but as you read above, not sure yet on the tool set. Although I gotta say, I can't do the shard... Because it is not titanium! Lmao! Although, it is pretty awesome that it has a built in Phillips head driver. That's my primary issue with currently available key chain pry bars. Love my bandicoot any way tho ;-) LM style ps/cs mod: http://edcforums.com/index.php?threads/Leatherman-Style-CS-Key-Mod.120775/ Posted this a long while ago, was completely buried in the do it yourself forum.
Love the man card! Very cool! As far as the SAK, a custom job is the only way to get what you want. In the mean time, you need to collect the donors to make that SAK! So check out felinevet and evilbay for used but good condition Explorers, Pioneers, Swiss Champs! You will come to the RED SIDE!!!
