Hey everyone/anyone who bothers to read this. I've been on the forum a while and I figured it's high time I start one of these. Hopefully you'll like the thread; if you don't that's cool too. Not sure what I'm going to do with this thread yet. Feel free to say hi, joke, and post your stuff, whether gear or just to chat, and know I'm accepting of criticism, constructive or otherwise, of my own stuff. Go nuts and make a mess of the place. I hold my beliefs and opinions pretty firmly, and am not afraid to voice them, but I can also be open minded and I strive to be a gentleman; so if we disagree, we can do so peacefully and still be friends. I try not to take myself too seriously, so don't be afraid of offending me. Pictures will be inbound later.
Everything in my carry today is the same as yesterday, except I swapped out my folder, multitool, and watch. What brand Zulu/NATO style watch bands do you all recommend? 07.14.17
Is that a Casio mdv106 with a Seiko SKX jubilee bracelet I spy? I've been wearing my Seiko skx009 since May 14 and I love the bracelet so if it is I applaud your fine and frugal taste.
It is indeed; good eye! I just finished a couple semesters of schooling, currently waiting for my state EMT paperwork to go through, so I'm unemployed at the moment. While I can't currently afford an SKX, or any of the other nice watches I like, I could afford to class up my Casio with the bracelet my brother didn't want on the 007 he got as a gift last year. ETA: The endlinks on the SKX's bracelet slop just enough to bug me on the mdv106, hence me wondering about what brand NATO bands are good.
I completely understand. I waited and waffled for a couple of years (!) Before getting my 009- I had never spent that much on a watch before, and taking the over $100 leap was kinda difficult to justify for me. But I love it. If you choose to get one when you get in your EMT field, I'm sure you'll be happy with it. Eye candy below for your viewing pleasure. ETA: I got my NATOs from Countycomm under the Maratac brand. I've also heard good things about Strapcode and especially about Crown and Buckle, but I haven't tried them.
Beautiful watch! Thanks for the leads on the bands, I'll write those down and check them out when I start working again.
Watchuseek is a wealth of information (and a rabbit hole for you to fall down) if you're interested in learning more about watches and the ins and outs of the NATO strap world. Thanks for the compliment, btw!
It turns out a razor sharp Cold Steel Norse Hawk makes a pretty excellent watermelon-cutting implement!
This picture is another re-post from the Coffee/EDC thread. Not all the gear I've got on me, but some of the more photogenic stuff. 07.19.17 I'm not generally a big CRKT guy, but this knife is very nice for the price - get it at wally world not online. If only they'd make it in a better steel like S30V; not a fan of 8cr13 especially in my humid climate.
Inside the waistband, right side appendix carry until I get my carry permit and replace it with a S&W Shield. I've been in college full time and working part time off and on for the past year, and haven't been able to afford to get my carry permit yet, much to my great frustration and disappointment.
Hang in there. It's coming. I remember finally being able to afford a pistol after getting out of undergrad and buying the first Glock 23 I could find. It still had 10 round "ban" magazines, and I bought a third stamped "Restricted LE/GOVT ONLY." This was 2004 I believe. I paid way too much for it all because my haste precluded prudent shopping. I also picked the gun solely based on my knowledge of some federal agents using it thinking if good enough for them then good enough for me. To this day it's the most difficult to shoot in my Glock inventory, and boy did I accumulate some holsters for it not one of which was I ever truly satisfied with, lol. In 2005, I got a CHL and night sights. Sent from my XT1650 using Tapatalk
Trying to hang in there but patience is always a struggle for me. I was given the Shield as a present last year or the year before, and I've been feeling quite guilty about not carrying it as it deserves to be. My friend has a 23 and while not horrible for me to shoot, I find the ergonomics don't work terribly well with my hands; not that it's bad, just that there's a lot of other guns that feel better.
My carry for today. I quite like this combo. I need a good stainless/brass/copper pen that takes Pilot G2 refills. 07.25.17
