its 2013, where are all the tiny cameras we saw in spy movies?
i understand mini cameras arent as popular as they deserve to be, because there are phones with integrated cameras

i found a nikon coolpix s01 that measures roughly 2x3x0.75".
but i would like it even smaller.
price range is about the same as the cheaper compact cameras from reputable makers.

    any suggestions?

You should get one. The best camera is the one that's with you :) my phone is always with me. These were all taken with my phone over the past month. Sorry for hijacking the thread ;)

At some point, your tiny camera is going to be impossible to use. How would you frame a picture with a 1" screen? How would you hold the camera without your finger in front of the lens?

Have you seen Memoto? It's a "life blogging" camera, whatever that is, but it is around 1.5" by 1.5" square. Keep in mind it has no user controls to speak of, it just automatically takes pictures.

I have a cheap eBay one of these, and its really good to just clip and forget. They do have a permanent time stamp though, which needs setting up on a PC :)

Can the microphone be disabled? Covert audio recording is illegal in Florida.

I have one of those cheepies... No way to turn off the audio but I'm pretty sure a glob of glue or something of the like placed on/in the microphone slot would render the audio mute.

I wouldn't like to gamble that. Even if glued, it may still record :)

A better look. I bought this a couple of years ago and have completely forgotten how to operate it. To say it only cost around £10, the quality was okay. They do come with all different specs and prices.

Bought the same thing off eBay a couple years ago for $0.01 from a seller/vendor in China. $12.99 shipping, but $0.01 for the item :D

Battery wouldn't hold a charge for more than 10 minutes, so it was useless for my intended purposes - nanny cam type use. Worked great as a webcam for Skype with my laptop, though.

Modes of use - something about holding in the Mode key until the little itty bitty light turned blue, or flashed blue. Can't remember, but one mode was stand-alone recording, one was webcam mode.

I don't care about tiny cameras. We're in the second decade of the 21st century now and I'm wondering where the heck is my flying car? When I was a kid, I was promised by the science mags and movies that I'd be driving around in a flying car and be able to travel to an orbiting space colony and moon bases.

We don't even have a freaking space shuttle anymore.

I think a GoPro with out the case might work perfect.
