Though there are many recommendations on what NOT to use as a (liquid/spray) screen cleaner, other than plain water I don't see many recommendations on what TO use. Lots of warnings out there about degrading the proprietary coatings on the glass (oleophobic and hydrophobic touch screens) and screen protectors. Even Apple has no recommendations for a cleaner other than water. I know that clean microfiber cloths are best to dry & wipe a screen, but would like to find something in a spray bottle to use, carry with me, etc. Disinfecting is not a consideration, just a cleaner. Any thoughts on what's really safe to use? Thanks!
kukla, I use WHOOSH! a cleaner I saw reviewed on YT a couple years ago and have been using it since. My family uses it on their iPhones (I have a screen protector on mine and I use Whoosh! and it works great) and we also use it on our eyeglasses/sun glasses. In general, I use the 3.4oz bottle, but they do have a mini bottle (~ 0.5 oz), which you can stick in a Dopp kit or similar. Safe for All screens non-toxic ammonia & Alcohol free https://whoosh.com I purchase it from Amazon
dishwashing detergent diluted 1 part to 100 parts water (preferably distilled). That's all I use on my Panasonic plasma (their recommendation). Dampen a cloth with a little of it & dry with another cloth. It's an industry standard recommendation. Don't waste time or money on commercial "cleaners" in this case.
Bad idea...read the ingredients: https://thegoodnursery.com/what-are-baby-wipes-made-of/ You don't want oils or many of the other ingredients on any viewable screen. There's a reason they're NOT recommended by phone & TV manufacturers
I use Eye Glasses Cleaners in little single sheet pack and they seem to work just fine for both Phone and Computer/TV Screens in every case. The screen on an iPhone is just glass so anything not abrasive and without caustic or strong chemicals should be just fine. I sell and install TVs and have tried a lot of cleaners saying they are made for big screens but I have used many non approved liquids there too and as long as I dont apply a lot pf pressure I have no issues and these screens are often plastic of some kind.
A large (40x40cm) microfiber cloth (they are sold here for glass and windows, 5 pieces a pack for 8 bucks). Frequently washed with a few drops of mild soap, it works fine for me since ages.
This works great, thank you. Safe, inexpensive, and efficient. The only change I made was .5 part instead of 1 part dishwashing liquid to the distilled water.
The absolute BEST thing to clean glass is...spit! It cleans glass, it keeps it from fogging and best of all, it's FREE! Put a little spit on a cloth and wipe off your glass. It will be spotless! I don't need no fancy concoctions for cleaning glass. Spit, newspaper and sometimes vinegar (but not on phones) works awesome. Never understood why someone tries to build a better "mouse trap" when it comes to cleaning glass. Anyone who is a diver knows how well spit works to clean glass, and it works in a pinch without any tools, cloths or anything else. The enzymes in saliva cut just about any grease and leave an invisible film which prevents haze and fog (and condensation). Sorry, but..."if it ain't broke, don't try to fix it!" P.S. EDC is about going with what you got, and what makes the most sense.
