    yeah, you read that right....

everytime we go to my wife's aunt's house for dinner, they only make tea....and I just found a Nespresso instant Espresso powder, which "ain't that bad." .. well, it's better than tea...

Any ideas how to discreetely carry a "cup of coffee"?

    2 best options:
Starbucks Via. I am a coffee fanatic( http://edcforums.com/threads/barchacks-coffee-thread.118200/#post-1843491 ) and this stuff is :censored: good for instant

Make a coffee tea bag. Empty tea bags are available most places that sell loose tea. Grind the coffee fine, pour into bag, iron it shut. Then when they bring you water for tea, pull that thing out of an Altoids tin, brew and drink. Then take out a microphone and drop it on the ground before walking offstage.

+1 for Via packets. I have them in my day-bag in-case I need coffee and can't find it. They are in all the BOBs, along with water and a way to heat it.

I even use them at home for those occasional days when my morning gets all messed up and I don't have time to make real coffee. My Aeropress brew is awesome, but Via packets aren't a bad replacement. You can find them in almost any grocery/drug/convenience store these days.

The only instant coffee that I have ever enjoyed is Douwe Egberts.

I was served some coffee at a restaurant and my wife and I were very impressed. We inquired what it was and were shocked to find out that it was an instant coffee!

Medaglia D' Oro Instant Espresso Coffee

Comes in a little two oz jar and I like it because I can add more than recommended and it doesn't end up tasting horrible. I got hooked on the stuff when I was looking for a compact coffee solution for motorcycle touring.

That's why I keep a bottle of caffeine pills in my pack/bag. Some days, coffee isn't feasible, but caffeine is mandatory. :D

The Via is really not that bad at all.
Try some before deciding for sure!

If they have hot water for tea, use the "coffee bag" idea as above (seal by iron, floss/thread, or staple):
or better yet, use an MSR Mugmate (filter insert you put in your cup, pour water over grounds, then remove when ready) easy-peasy

I have Via packets in all my bags. Great when I get stuck in a hotel with really bad coffee (like axwell house). Best instant coffee I've tried

I've found the key to instant is not using too much. One rounded teaspoon is plenty for a big mug. If you add more it only makes it bitter not stronger.
BTW, Via is the best I've tried.

Another vote for the Starbucks Via packets. I take them with me when hiking. Not as good as something from my Keurig, but way better than any other instant coffee I've tried!

I love both coffee and tea, depending on my mood, but either one weakly brewed is worse than none at all!

Reminds me of my favorite Abraham Lincoln quote:

"If this is coffee, please bring me some tea; but if this is tea, please bring me some coffee."

These coffee bags are really cool. I use them all the time. Perfect on a hiking trip. It's fresh coffee and you just ad boiling water.

I have looked at those but not tried them yet?

The Via is also just fresh coffee but just micro-ground so it comes to life as an instant,I am pretty sure that is why it works so well.

I use Nescafe instant with a little honey added. Checked out the Vias at wal mart last night and for a buck a pack (8oz brew) I passed. I will have to check out a better deal on them at Amazon perhaps.
