Bah. You can get some nice bags for much less. Unless of course, you are an aspiring gear snob. Then you have no chance. LOL

Show me a "nice" bag - a bag with a lifetime warranty - for under $40.00, new.

I may be a gear snob, as you suggest, as I own a digital magazine that publishes gear reviews. With that said, I subscribe to the "buy once, cry once" philosophy when purchasing my own gear. If a company doesn't stand behind their gear 100%, I wouldn't put it in the "nice" category.

I'm not calling you anything I wouldn't call myself. :)

What's your definition of a nice bag??

As an inexpensive option, LL Bean is tough to beat... they also will replace their stuff no matter how old/abused it is.

    This item is unavailable :D

A nice bag starts with quality materials and, generally, a lifetime warranty. From there, I look for good functional design. Once those two criteria are met, I look for "form" or something unique and market-leading.

Yep, there was one left when I checked. Lol. Regardless, not sure what the OP really needs, but there are lots of great bags under $40. I would actually spend a week hitting the odd thrift store. I get lots of nice bags there. Warranty? Heck, the bags cost less than the shipping for a replacement. I have several super nice bags from that venue.

I like having the backpack style and it seems like Rothco offers the bags I'm looking for in that budget.

Rothco can be great bags. However, they come in two grades and it's not obvious what your getting. The higher grade come with YKK zippers and heavier canvas. The lower quality ones have cheap zippers and thin canvas.
