Hello everyone! I'm searching for an inexpensive EDC/school bag that features enough room to carry any supplies that I need and is also lightweight and somewhat small. I've been looking around on various websites, but I cannot find exactly what I am looking for. Let me know if you have any suggestions! Thanks!:D

Patagonia Refugio 28, I have the old version and it's my school/EDC bag. The new one looks even better

Rothco european school bag can work. cheap, sturdy, roomy. a bit like the Thinkgeek bag of holding, but smaller and cheaper.

I'm a huge fan of High Sierra. Very well made and can be found crazy cheap.

I understand that the price and availability of bags and backpacks vary wildly with geographical location. What's cheap in the US can be horribly expensive here in Europe, and sometimes vice versa. Where do you live?

Yes, and what do you mean by "inexpensive"

I would consider "inexpensive" to be $10 or $20, and finding a QUALITY bag that's going to last you more than a few months or a year at that price point would be difficult, but some people have more money than me and would rate it at $50 or below, or even $100 or below.

What's your price range? As more than anything else, that's going to define what suggestions you get.

High Sierra backpacks at Costco FTW. Ross Dress For Less is also a good source.

Wenger make great packs as well as Targus and Ebags. I really like the Ebags Motherload weekender.

Fajllraven Kanken would be one of the best bang for buck deals, probably one of the most durable bags you're going to get for about sixty bucks if you shop around. Another suggestion would be to keep an eye out the forum's bst section for shadow rucks by Goruck. I have a fifteen I could probably let go but it is probably too small for you're needs. I know my school load wouldn't fit terribly well in it. If you want to go cheaper than that then yeah rothco is probably your best bet but If i were going that direction I would also prowl some milsurp and goodwill type stores first.

You really haven't given any criteria so this is kind of difficult. I love North Face's bags for school, but they could be a wee bit pricier than you want. I had an LL Bean bag for my entire school career and was pretty happy. But really you need to give us a bit more to go on.

Without knowing what your needs are, you may want to look at Jansport also. They have packs in a variety of sizes.

Oh, I'd completely forgotten about them! Their packs are classic and will last a year or two, give or take depending on abuse. I saw a neat looking model at REI the other day.

Keep an eye out for USA Eastpak bags. They can be had for a bargain and are made as well as Jansport, have basically the same history and are now warranted through them. At least in the U.S.

Thanks for the suggestions! For those who are wondering, I live in the US and by inexpensive I mean around $40 or less. Keep the suggestions flowing!

Jansport and Eastpack are available everywhere, at least in my area, and when I was in school I had very good experiences with them.
I would use it for a school pack, hiking pack and for travel and they took a beating and lasted a long time. Get one of the versions with the reinforced bottom and you'll be good to go for a long time.

Do you have any feedback on the suggestions everyone made? It may help to narrow down your needs.

Backpack style? Messenger style? At least we know your budget now. Forty bucks won't buy you much. A plastic shopping bag is lightweight, inexpensive and holds quite a bit ....
