Ha. Posted at same time. Let me know if you have any specific questions. Have it with me now.
Can you compare to the Micro?
How much bigger,is it the same forward clicky operation and what is the output like?
The Micro is almost perfect to me aside from the relative low single output but it is so good that it easy to overlook the downsides too.
This newer model seemed worthy enough to try without finding any reviews first, someone has to go first right!
Ill post more pix later next to the Microstream tonight.
Button is a normal multi mode. Soft push for the different modes but you can program it for whatever modes you want. I have lo/hi with strobe locked out.
Clip is very good.
At its widest it is .71"
Glass lens instead of plastic in microstream
With new alkaline batteries
Wall 3 feet away
ProTac 1AAA on low (camera wouldnt capture well)
ProTac 1AAA on high
Microstream on left
ProTac 1AAA on right
If you want to break it down into "class" like cars, you know about the T10 and the L10c, the Solarforce Z2 is the only other light in that class that I am aware of, and within your budget. Done.
ETA: My personal, somewhat arbitrary class system that is. Clicky 1xAA with pocket clip, simple UI and "budget" priced which to me is really $30 or less but can stretch left or right.
ThorFire PF01 has been sitting in my Amazon cart for a while waiting to be purchased. Looks nice for $15.
+1 on the Bushnell. I just picked one up and I like it alot. It's a fantastic little light.
I snagged a Bushnell Today AND my ProTac' came in too.
Someone will be playing in the dark Tonight, with new lights at least?
I have been quite happy with the few energizer cree led single AA lights I got at Target. Not sure if they are still made like that, but they handle a lithium rechargeable just fine and output more than 70 lumens. Plus I can throw in an AA from the drawer if needed. Single mode and tail clicky. Not more than 20 each if memory serves me correctly.
So after having the new ProTac AAA for a few days I am a fan!
It is like a Super Microstream in a way but a lot more capable overall too.
More power, output.flexibility slightly bigger but still pretty small.
The same size exactly as the Dark Sucks AAA light basically.
I really prefer a forward click switch all the time ad having the ability to program the light my way is pretty sweet too. I am using it as Low-High and it does not cycle like most others but a single click always gets Low and a double-tap always gets high, entirely predictable which is nice!
The beam is more flood than the Micro and they complement each other well because of it,they are great together.
With my preference for this switch type I sure don't know of another AAA light I like as well.
I also got the Bushnell AAA light and they are $15.00 not $10.00 as first implied but alas it is a good little light too so far!
A really floody beam and a very warm tint help make this pretty amazing for the price. Add to that a rear forward clicky and it is a winner for the price all the way around. It seems to have a plastic lens and the style is "Brutal" really but it is growing on me too.
Another perfect combination with a Microstream as it is so floody and the Micro so Spotty. They are the same length but the Bushnell is bigger in diameter. Also has what seems like a great clip so far.
Streamlight Microstream. Simple, reliable, cheap.
Another big vote for the $4 cree specials on ebay or amazon. You won't find a brighter light at that price point and they do make great little lights. Can get them in 1 mode or 3 mode versions. Can buy 5 of them for your price, so if he loses one you have a backup.
Boom! Glad you are happy with it. I really like mine as well. Hopefully my descriptions were accurate and my pix helped out.
