    While that probably works there may be legal problems with that if something goes wrong (insurance, right to compensation etc.) depending on where you live (since it is not an approved use). So take care when doing it. :)

    They make diphenhydramine cream, but in a pinch making a paste is fine.

    They are both similar in chemical structure and act the same way in the body by decreasing the smooth muscle activity in the colon. Studies have shown that the lomotil tends to work a little bit better and faster.

    Also it is shown that if you eat a chewable pepto-bismol before eating foods in a foreign country it may decrease your chances of getting travellers diarrhea as it coats the stomach lining and makes it more difficult for pathogens to penetrate.
