Hi Point announced they would release their 10mm carbine this month. I'm putting off my hog killing trip so I can get one to take along. I carry a 10mm pistol and reload to +P loads. This small rifle is very rugged and accurate out to 100 yards and lethal against most things I may encounter.
My brother, I know there is some Hi-Point love out there, but in most circles, its like saying one has a right righteous case of the crabs. Good luck with the hog hunt, and be careful out there!
As much as I hate hi point, a friend of mine has the 9mm version and I must say that it really is fun to shoot Sent from my SM-G892A using Tapatalk
I have out shot a lot of high end pistols with a hi-point c-9. Their carbines are great fun to shoot and accurate
, that gun is FUGLY!!! I guess it's good for a throwaway at least - if you toss it like a grenade. Surprised it racked & fired after taking a hit like that. I guess the big boys will have to step up their torture tests a bit... Sent from my Moto G (5) Plus using Tapatalk
Ill be picking one up too. Hopefully they make an aftermarket chassis for it like they do the others. Ive been looking for an affordable 10mm carbine for a while. Sent from my LG-LS993 using Tapatalk
I just checked out their website - tempting at that price. I've paid close to that for a great blade (you don't have to reload...). You guys are possibly delaying home improvement projects with this thread...lol. Sent from my Moto G (5) Plus using Tapatalk
I'm serious about guns, but curious - haven't decided if I'm $350 worth of curious though, lol. I'll take a beat up Colt 1911 over a new poly any day of the week. Sent from my Moto G (5) Plus using Tapatalk
Do you carry a Glock by chance? If so, there are better alternatives to the Hi Point for the same amount of money. They also make a 1911 and XD based versions as well. http://mechtechsys.com/
No I don't carry a Glock and can't imagine I ever would. I carry a S&W Model 39 everyday and I carry a EAA Witness 10mm Compact when I go to the field. I practice with both at the range although I shoot at close in targets with the 9 and longer range with the 10.
Mtect systems Mechtechsystems kit $435-$500 Glock 20 $600 total $1035-$1100 then you have to buy optics Hi-point msrp $389 once the get in stores $299 I know the original 995 carbine in 9 mm is capable of 100 yards shots on groundhogs and yotes there are a whole lot more people can afford $299 than $1100 The Hi-point hate gets old they are no doubt ugly and not the sleekest guns around . but to say the are un-reliable or in accurate is total B.S. If the don't go bang every time hi-point will fix it so it does no questions ask . The c-9 I had years ago when that was all I could afford was just as accurate as my XD-40 the 9mm carbine sent way over 100 groundhogs to the bean field in the sky . I trust a hi-point way more than any semi auto Taurus makes I have seen way more Taurus gun go back for repair multiple times than hi-point
If you pay attention to his original post, he carries a 10mm handgun of which he didn't specify the make until asked. I even bolded his reply in my quote to provide context to my suggestion. Hence why I asked if he had a Glock, so you can eliminate that cost if he did own a Glock, an XD or a traditional 1911 since they make a variant for each and made my recommendation based on that only. Not having to purchase the base handgun as part of the investment. So once again you are back to a marginal MSRP $435 vs a MSRP of $389. No sense in putting artificial costs, proposed real street pricing and other hypothetical for an argument that didn't exist until your reply. The Hi-Point could very well hit the market like Kel-Tec's infamous Sub2K of 10 years ago, coupled with short supply and high infatuation, drive prices to well over MSRP when available.
I did in fact miss he had a 10 mm, but converting it to a carbine negates the reason most want to have a handgun and carbine in the same caliber . Hi-point isn't Kel-Tec it usually doesn't take them long once they bring something out for them to be in full production. Even then if I was buying a 10 mm carbine, I have never seen the Mechtech systems kit. in person don't know any one who has I know what the hi-point carbines are I would pick the hi-point
