For me it is the Tom Bihn Synapse line with slightly thicker shoulder straps and maybe a more comfortable top handle to grab. Also I would love a zippable water bottle pouch, Direct Action Dust style, on the Trident 20. Or almost any bag for that matter.
Yeah. I'm a sucker for the Synapse 25 all the way. I just want more back support and some GR1 straps! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Id go for a modified 5.11 Rush 12, keeping the general layout except this: 40L capacity No external PALS, except the attachmentpoints underneath the pack Internal PALS like the Goruck GR2, but all over the backpanel from top to bottom Double compression straps on each side of the pack Mystery Ranch Futura harness Fairly simple... ;-) Wish there were custom makers that would do something like it.
5.11 rush 12 in black with a light colored interior so I can see what's in the bag. Sorta like Vanquest bags.
CANNIBALdinner, I bought my Synapse 25 from a guy on BladeForums who made his own internal frame sheet that fits behind the clips for the rails. It's pretty good for adding support and should be simple to make. It looks like he just took a sheet of 1/16" or so thick plastic sheeting, cut it to size, cut holes for the rails straps to go through, and duct taped all the edges down. I love my Synapse 25, but I love the look of Duluth Packs. My ideal pack would be a Synapse 25 that looks like a forest green and leather Duluth pock, an option for a more substantial waist belt, a better grab handle, and perhaps some of the internal mesh pockets of the Rush 24. I'd also make the logo a velcro patch panel like on a Goruck.
I would take everything from the GR1 and make a GR1. Actually it would probably be a cross between the GR1 and the Evade pack. I love the internal molle of the GR1, but the D ring thingy that the Evade has on the inside is something I wish the GR1 had.
Dyneema ripstop bag with fidlock fastners. Opens like a vertex bag hinged lid and full clam opening. Laser etched molle with daisy chain like a dragon egg Velcro inner back ,side pockets ala R24 Ultralight and minimal inner that can be removed to form a light weight day bag like a moshi or outlier bag, when not removed it is the laptop area or wet/dirty clothes storage. Small inner pocket for keys can be removed to be used as a wallet. Must have a hidden pocket
Awesome topic. Right now my dream list would start with a Goruck 15L Bullet in MAS Grey. Because reasons No external molle Add an admin area/pen slots to the front slant pocket Keep the hydration pocket as is Loop lined interior like the Goruck Shooter rucks, except hi-vis or contrasting color Sternum strap as standard, not an add on I'm sure my idea of an ultra superior perfect pack will change tomorrow. Or in an hour. Lol
For me it changes nearly weekly because I'm always saying to myself....boy I wish my pack had this feature. I like the boxy design, shoulder straps, and full open design of the GR1 but I also like the admin pocket of the Evade. I'd remove the MOLLE and put 4 compression straps that could double to add a beaver tail like the TAD Fastpacks if desired. The I'd made The Whole thing out of Dynema and give it a raised mesh back with air channels and side bottle pockets. The total volume would be around 30-35 liters.
My requirements in a backpack are simple.. -Internal frame, left side tuned to 850mhz Right side tuned to 900mhz. -Supports between the frame an ultra thin 20ah+ battery. Waterproof electronics compartment. -solar. -twin 3l hydro packs with inline filters. -quiver attachment -drop down padded boot and straps to hold bow. -blaze orange waterproof pull out cover. -full front fold down with ridgid sides and straps to hold it at 90deg when pack on treestand. -bino harness on chest strap. -rangefinder and call pockets on waist strap -separate overnight gear/food and meat sections -significant ability to expand with compression strapping the full length. -no noise from fabric or zips -realtree xtra hd. -under 5lb -=The Matter is Void=-
This is why I love making bags. If there is an idea I like, I can try it. Some work some don't, all I have normally lost is a bit of time and material. My family are my customers, me (mainly), school bags (They are not to embarrassed to use them, so they can't be to bad), PE bags, A3 art folders, day sacks etc. When I make a new one and take it into work, work mates generally stopped by and have a look. I am currently working on a specific holiday bag for me, after my last couple of trips away, I now think I know what I need. It is based on the Hazard 4 Tonto, but with a specific camera pocket at the front, with different accessibility options depending where I am and what I am doing at the particular time. It has internal and external zip pockets for travel documents etc. I will put pictures up as usual in the DIY section when finished. Before I started this I had no machine sewing experience, I started with this great tutorial https://www.edcforums.com/threads/e-e-small-daypack-tutorial-new-pictures-added.88416/ and Youtube, bought a second hand machine and table for about £25, started with small projects and went from there.
For me it would be - 35L capacity - adjustable harness height - internal pals webbing for attaching organizational pockets like with the MR 3DAP but possibly on all sides of the interior - thick padded hip belt like Kifaru's, which is removable, yet one piece that slides behind the lumbar pad (not separate wings like MR) - removable beaver tail that doesn't look like a diaper (Kifaru's is so ugly...), so I can store my helmet or outer clothing layer - built-in side pockets for 1.5L water bottles that won't fall out from tilting to one side
