If wallet and keys are a freebie, then I add light and lighter.

I don't bother with the minimalist approach. I always wind up adding everything back anyway, so why not start with it?

Wallet and watch are like clothing...and I'm not going to start listing my underwear as part of my EDC!:nana:

I know everyone has their own ideas about what constitutes EDC, but for me EDC are those items that are not a part of my everyday attire, or necessary to start my car. I'd carry a wallet, watch, and keys because I'm a functional, working adult, and I did so long before I ever considered carrying a few extra items (my EDC) that could make life a little easier day to day and in an emergency. Not to mention listing these items wouldn't even give me bragging rights...I'm a simple man, and my wallet (Maxpedition), watch (Timex), and my keys (I drive a Honda) reflect it.

Jeez,5 things is pretty limited, especially these days.

    -Handgun

I prefer my full-sized handguns(Beretta Model 92,Kimber Custom,CZ-75 and Glock 17).Carried in the belt holster.Has to have a relatively large magazine capacity, some stopping power and be familiar to me,with good illuminated sights and be fairly accurate.

    -Watch

Have to be able to tell the time, have style and fits well with gloves. It's the TAG Heuer Kirium F1 and it rolls in style.Voted the 10th best luxury mens watch my Australian AskMen.com.

    -Phone

It has to have a good quality camera/vid cam with basic editing features, windows mobile with Officer,Explorer and Media Player lite as well as being able to send and receive emails, browse the internet and use YouTube,Twitter,Facebook and the like. It's the Samsung i780.

    -Wallet

I use the Clava Tuscan Conference Padfolio Tuscan in Black, simply because it can hold a large sum of paper cash,ID and Bank Cards.Licenses and stuff also are protected from corrosion because it fully encases the contents.Waterproof as well.

    -Keys

Keys to M3,A4,Boat and Bike are all on the same Floatable keyring(got the float from my local boat/yacht club).I also have the key to my house and a Letter Box one on it,and a key to my small gun safe.If you don't have keys, then your pretty much stuck.

Hmmm the 10 item's thread was too easy, so let me respond to this thread

    Watch
    Pen
    Cell Phone
    Keys
    Flashlight

The first 4 are things that I use constantly on a daily basis and I doubt I could even function without them. The flashlight is an E2DL, I figured if I tried hard enough I could make some cuts with the crenelations lol

agreed- 10 was much easier :)

this list won't be much like any of the others, but I live quite a ways from any urban area to speak of, so wallet, cellphone, watch, etc are items that would fall down the pecking order

    1. knife- Fallkniven WM1 (neck carry)
    2. lighter- Windmill
    3. cordage- Paracord bracelet (~ 8' of cord)
    4. light- Black Diamond headlamp
    5. water-Nalgene stainless bottle

    Leatherman Charge TTi Multitool.
Small Moleskine notebook (my memory sucks. I need a notebook).
    Small mechanical pencil.
    Surefire E1l 2nd gen (right now I've got a 1st gen,but would love a 2nd gen)
    Shemagh.
If the notebook and pencil count as one, then I'd like to add "lighter." I don't smoke, and don't build campfires often, but a reliable lighter is pretty handy to have on hand.

I think the important question here is, do items that everyone carries, without the idea of EDC in mind, count too?
    Like phone/wallet/keys/watch.

If this is only about the "additional" things, then:

    knife
    light
    lighter
    pen
    duct tape

else i would have only one slot left, because phone/wallet/watch/keys are totally essential.
in that case, i would choose a knife.

    1. Light
    2. Scissors
    3. Screwdriver / prybar
    4. Prybar w/bottle opener
    5. pen

The scissors do pretty much everything the knife does - the reverse does not apply.
