streamlight microstream has a clip on that can be used in two directions.
    check it out here...

the clicky button on mine is wicked hard to click though. anyone else have that experience?

    i love the fenix e01.
sometimes i carry one attached to a three foot lanyard with a vic hiker on the other end. i slip the hiker in my pocket and loop the fenix under my belt.

If it is for EDC use as you wrote, consider a 2AAA penlight instead of a 1AAA light. The penlights are easier to grasp and the 2 batteries provide more capacity.

I often use a penlight for EDC. Current models are bright enough to serve in most EDC roles compared with the anemic penlights of the past.

Favorites include the Pelican 1920, Streamlight Stylus Pro (C4 version), and the new Mini Maglite 2AAA LED penlight. (all shown in the photo)

    For single mode lights:
    Fenix E01
    Fenix E05
    Streamlight microstream

    For multi modes
    Fenix Ld01
    Preon 1 or 2(the preon 2 uses 2AAA and has a clicky)

Peak Eiger QTC with a Nichia 219 and 10440 is my new favorite AAA sized light.

If you really wanna do a sheath I would go AAx2 at least. So much more capacity and not much more mass. That or put a AAA light in a front shirt pocket like a pen.

There are RED ones available but rare and about $30+ if found. I see some for sale in eBay this morning... I too wish they had colors regularly too as I'd like one in blue for under $20. Hope you find what you're looking for.

The thing about the 1AAA (microstream one) is that I can hold it in my mouth for a longer period of time & its easier to use that way too ;)

Red! Omgah but yes I would love a blue one too!

Some electrical tape or heat shrink tubing makes it even better to hold in your mouth..

IMHO the light you get from Klarus and 4Sevens in that configuration are tough to beat. I have a Preon1 and had a Preon0 which I gifted; they are terrific. Doing it again the Klarus is really tempting as I use medium the most and it seems they come on on that mode first. Also, the brass threads are beyond awesome.

Besides those two the only thing that could be better (personally) is the Eiger from Peak but quite a bit more cash.

Usually I buy lights that look cool and are fun. Then I buy nicer ones and the first batch ends up going out the door as random "happy light day!" presents. There is much to be said in buying something for more money that will make you 100% content from the beginning. At the least they just become archaic more slowly.

I love my Peak Eiger. Nice and floody and fits in my Skinth OG perfectly.

A Quark Mini 123 is snug in the side pocket but will fit. Also your multi-tool and knife can go in as well but you might have to go with another Skinth model. Lots to choose from :)
