I'm out the hospital now it turns out, I will not been seen for maybe 7-10 days. This thread helped to reduce individual messages a bunch (thanks for that, this worked like the old days . I need to keep individual messages small for quite a while. If you don't see Barkie threads popping up you know that I'm not caught up.
Feel better and take it easy. I had major surgery about 4 months ago, after a week in hospital, got out and put in two full days of work from home. And hit a brick wall. Took me two weeks to recover from that bit of idiocy. Take it easy and work up to it and our thoughts with you!
Small update, I am much better but not quite as healthy as I thought I was. I was experiencing the difference between how sick I have been since this summer and how I am now. There is still some recovering to do. I have been working again but I have been told in wound packing that I let the packing slip out of the wound twice and that that is a bad thing. Today I asked when what could be done to keep the packing from flowing out of the wound, I explained I have to work. They changed the way it is taped up. A couple of days ago I asked how long the packing will be and they said they didn't know but that it could be up to a month of packing, they seems long to me. I am working but not as fast or long as I would like to be at the moment. The plan is to move at a moderate pace so I don't cause the packing to spill out, it will include working for three hours and resting for one hour for the time being until I heal a bit more.
They know what they are doing and they know what the packing can and can't do. Now is the time to listen and obey
Just got out of wound packing today. On the weekends and holidays where the packing gets done varies, today I ended up in the same room I stayed in the hospital in. I was kind of surprised everyone recognized me up there. They said I have less of a canyon now but this is going to take awhile, the new tape strategy to keep the packing in failed . They commented the location is really bad for packing to survive walking. This could be going on for quite awhile.
A pair of compression shorts could help - they're pretty tight so the packing wouldn't be able to move out too far. Had surgery in vaguely the same place, and compression shorts were a big upgrade from the hospital issued mesh underwear!
Compression shorts, never heard of those. I wonder if I can get them locally. I have to be able to work but the packing issue is making it a chore.
If there is a store that sells athletic gear, the answer is probably a "yes". Check Modells, Dicks, and Sports Authority.
You can also try Academy Sports online they ship quick and cheap IIRC. They also have their own Brand BCG which is decent quality and will save some cash.
Compression shorts might help, Jon. But you would probably want to take them off when you weren't working.
Clear the shorts concept with the docs first... I get the feeling holding that packing Too Tight/pressing it in too much might be a bad idea too.
Prayers to ya Jon. I had no idea till I just read this thread. All I knew before is that you were" not doing well???". As far as the compression short thing goes,Like AK said...clear it with the doc...after that just let us know what size and where to send and someone will get them to you expedited with no problem. I have several sporting goods stores locally and would be more than happy to get them to you "next day".
