some pics of roughly 600.00 worth of gear...

counting the "I am not a paper cup" ceramic coffee mug and the slinghammer hankie underneath.

going for the dimpled Deluxe Tibolt and custom pivot/clip on the kwaiback midtech may put you over a smidgen.

if you are willing to go cheaper on the knife, you can get a matching pen and wallet, if machine era is still doing the brass wallets.

Check out the Zero Tolerance 0560 or Lionsteel SR1. Both excellent knives, and you'll have enough left over for a gun.

JustinJ Gorgeous, but good luck finding a Hoback Kwaiback Midtech for the original pricing.

definitely a long wait to get one directly from Jake Hoback. I was in that first batch that got delayed for a long time due to machine shop issues, maybe 18 month wait or so, but well worth it considering the markup to get one elsewhere and how nice a knife it is for the original price.

Custom Knife factory has some good things in this price range as well. their website is FromRussiaWithKnives. you could get an Elf, Sukhoi, or Morrf folder and the Asymetric fixed blade.

Fun dilemma :) Big +1 on Lightnig's Hinderer XM-18 shown above. "Spanto" point is terrific, though it's not a particularly good whittler. Like he says, pluses include the easily changed handle scale ($65), simple disassembly, and robust construction. On the other hand, if your plans don't include prying, pounding, chopping, or other so-called hard use, you will not be sorry if you buy a large Sebenza Insingo from Chris Reeve Knives.

You have good taste, Spares. The Sebenza Insingo is a great knife.

Just a slight clarification may be in order...

All very true of the XM's

Not so true (yet....) for the Eklipse I posted a picture of.

There is a lot of hardware available for the XM 18, both 3" and 3.5" (whether you can find in stock at any one time is a different matter, but it is out there). Hardware for the xm24's is less common, but then so are the knives.

No hardware yet available for the Eklipse, too new. I am told some XM hardware will work on the Eklipse, but not all and not necessarily a proper fit either. Some screws from the 3" 18 work in some spots (but sit below flush), some screws from the 3.5" 18 work elsewhere, the clips are the same, but not any handle spacers. the XM's use barrel spacers where as the the Eklipse uses threaded standoffs...

    < / tangent >

I now yearn for a Blue scaled 3.5" Skinner with Steel Flame hardware. Ouch, my poor wallet...

    Good call

I have checked out that site before and they have some pretty sweet stuff.

Shipping is a killer though, and can't even bundle several together to save money on costs... :(

I've seen some of their knives on Knifecenter, which I think ships from the US.

These are all good and under $600. The Hinderer with the custom scales may be just over.

    Two DFK's? You dog!

What a wonderful collection. Daniel's folders get my vote and fit just into your budget. Just a matter of finding one!

If you opt to go the Strider route, my advice would be to find one that's already had a spa trip, or look to get 2 so you have a backup.

    (Man I love this collection.)

As Striders go, how about a performance PT CC?

For my money I'd look at a custom flipper with Ti, CF and Moonglow goodness

I really like the looks of the Olamic, and they are very easy to find most of the time, and pop up everywhere all the time.
