I have had watches by Glycine, Marathon, and (many) Seiko ... though not necessarily these exact models discussed in the thread. Liked them all, but if it were my choice, I would choose Glycine ;)

Several posts have been either edited or deleted to come into compliance with rule 12.

I've been thinking about one of those Steinharts for a while. Is that 42 or 39mm?

Get a diver - they are built extra rugged. I only desk dive, but like a rugged watch.

Just to throw a few more idea out, check out these micro-brewers:

    halios watches
    helson watches
    armida watches

Plenty of choices for under $1k. They make solid watches for great value, compared to major Swiss brands. If you don't mind modding Seiko, then you opened up a whole can of worms that only yourself can figure out.

Although I don't own one, Armourlite watches seem to be worth a mention; several of their models use trit lume, and have sapphire xtals. I've admired their watches for a while now.

Has anyone recommended Deep Blue watches yet. They have multiple models that meet your requirements. I think they might even sell one with a nato strap. Most of their watches are sub $500 with crystal, etc.
