Can I delete a conversation ('private message' in old-speak)? I don't see a button or link. Yes, a conversation can be deleted using one of two options: permanent delete or soft-delete (see bottom image for explanation of both). Open the conversation you wish to delete. At top-right, just above upper-most message pane, click Leave Conversation (see image). In the pop-up box, select the desired Future Message Handling (see image). Click Leave Conversation button. Conversation is now removed from conversations list.
Got it, Thanks! I had done a search, just not thorough enough I have felt my inner "Monk" coming out and I have the desire to clean things up a bit.
Would love to resurrect an option I am waiting for.... is there a way yet to delete multiple conversations at once?
Yes, the software certainly needs a way to remove multiple conversations at once. My account was old and each of my PMs was converted to a separate "Conversation" even when there were several in a single chain. I had to delete each one individually. Second issue; on one I did a soft delete by accident because that's the default, there was no way to go back an make it a permanent delete. Looks like the form software is still quite clunky in many very basic areas. It looks pretty... but...
As the Xenforo developers are currently dealing with a lawsuit they have not had a chance to do any further work on fixing minor bugs, adding features, refining the code etc. Give it time.
Don't want to "steal" Jon's good news, but at last, the litigation involving Xenforo and vBulletin's parent was just settled. The terms of the settlement are confidential, but the owners/founders of XF assure that they'll remain an independent company and will resume devoting their full resources and energy to software development. This also means that folks not directly affiliated with XF, but who write and sell "add-ons" for XF software, will no doubt get back into the game. Nothing but good news for the user base.
Thanks for the reminder. No one wants this feature any more than I do. Just checked Xenforo users' forum. It's good news/bad news. The good news: one of their forum admins — who creates Xenforo add-ons — released an enhanced "conversation manager" add-on late-Feb 2015. Includes a host of enhancements, including multiple conversation deletions. The bad news: not compatible with our current version of Xenforo. When will we upgrade XF version? Sorry, don't know. Jon has never been reluctant to upgrade if tangible benefits in doing so. But far as I know, no compelling reason(s) to upgrade at present. Afraid best I can do is a vague answer: XF version upgrade will happen when justifiable, and I suspect Jon will consider the conversation add-on at same time (he knows it's on a lot of folks' wish-list).
