So I was wondering, how often do we use all this stuff we carry around?

    • small knife/SAK: once a day
    • larger knife: 1-2 times every other day
    • large multi-tool: once or twice every week or two.
    • small multi tool: 1-2 days a week
    • wallet: money or credit card - 1-2 times a day - various forms of ID 1-2 times a week.
    • mini prybar - once a day
    • small one piece multi-tool on keys - once a day
    • small flashlight - 1-2 times most days
    • large flashlight - 1-2 times a week in summer, 5-7 times a week in winter.
    • handkerchief/bandana - a few times a week
    • pen/pencil - 2-3 times a week in summer, 10+ times a day during the school year
    • notebook/day planner - 1-2 times a day
    • pocket FAK - 2-3 times a week
    • larger FAK - once a week
    • paracord - once a month or less, unless I'm on a bracelet making streak
    • whistle - Lifeguard - 4-5 times a day. School aide - Once every 2-3 days. General use - once a week
    • USB flash drive - once every week or 2 during summer, 2-3 times a day during school year
    • Spare change of clothes - 1-2 times a week during summer - once a month the rest of the year
    • Phone - between 1-5 times a day... yeah I'm one of those weird people that hates phones and rarely texts and doesn't use their phone for anything else.
    • duct/duck tape - once a month or less.

So, that's all I could think of on a moments notice though I'm sure there's other stuff I forgot to mention. I'm looking forward to comparing my usage and edc items with yours.

    - Swiss Army Knife - 2 to 3 times per week...usually the scissors but occasionally the knife or other tools
    - Pen - 1 to 2 times per week
    - Rexford RUT - 1 to 2 times per month. Usually to open packaging.
    - Main Flashlight - Multiple times every day (I am up evenings/nights/early morning)
    - Keychain Light - Rarely. It's a true backup so I check it every month or two. Actually use it once every 3 to 4 months.
    - Keychain OPMT - Every 2 to 3 months...usually to pop a top on my favorite craft beer which might mean once, or a few times. I've only used the pry tip a couple times in the years I've owned it.
    - Wallet - 1 to 3 times every week
    - Bandana/Hank - 2 to 4 times per month
    - iPod Touch - At least a couple times per week
    - Field Notes - Maybe once a week
    - PockeTweez - Rarely. Once a year maybe, but ticks are a concern where I live so I still carry them.
    - Henkles Nail Clippers - Once every couple weeks? Maybe more for the occasional hang nail
    - House Key - Daily

That is about all I regularly carry. The only thing I use everyday is my house key and flashlight.

    Keychain knife - 2-3 times a day.
Keychain flashlight - 10+ times a day (and night).
    Bigger folder - 2-3 times a day.
Bigger flashlight - none to 10+ a day (if I'm at work at night).
    Fixed blade - Almost never.
Phone - 20+ if I see what time is it, if not, about 5 times.
Victorinox Nail clippers - Once or twice a month, sometimes a bit more, if I want to get rid of the dead skin around my nails.
Pen - Almost never. Carry a UZI #6 Tactical pen, but never use it. I use a cheap one on my workplace just to write something in a hurry.
Pry bar - Almost never, but when I use it, I beat the organs out of it. Light prying with other stuff like nail files or MTs or else (NOT knife tips).
Multitool - About once a day, depends on a lot of things. Sometimes a week without using it, sometimes 3-4 hours in one day.
    Tape - Once a week.
    Paracord - 2-3 times a week.
    Clothes - 23/7 (one hour or less I don't wear, when I'm taking a bath :))

    Glasses: all day every day
Keys: car key a few times per day, pry bar a few times per week, can opener only once so far, safety pin to hold opener closed about once per week, Aslan tag never gets used per say but I think about my family and this forum every time I touch it, belt hook on keys gets used every time I leave the house
Knife of the day: I would say 3 or 4 times most days. A large percentage of uses probably didn't require a knife though, like opening food. But the knife makes it faster and more fun!
Smart Phone: 2 or 3 hours of use per day mostly playing games and keeping up with forums. I send and receive maybe half a dozen texts per day and make or answer about 1 call per week
Hankie: don't always carry this since they were all stained up and my wife tossed them out. I have since replaced them with old soft linen napkins. I love the feel and thickness of these until I try to put them in my back pocket! But if I have one on me it gets used
lighter: averages about once per day although I will sometimes go a week or more without using it
para cord/tape fob: in certain pants the cord looped around my belt acts as an additional belt loop to keep my belt in place. other then that the tape gets used about once per week and the cord less then once per month
light: at least once per day, usually more. It's really dark outside my house with lots of racoon and skunks and things. And I leave for work at 230 am
Tin kit: the tin kit gets used at least once per day but there are things in the kit like mre TP that have thankfully never been used

Great thread, Water-Rat, at least if it takes off. I'm interested in finding out what of all this useful stuff people actually use.

    • small knife/SAK: utx-70, several times a day, most days
    • larger knife: rarely. It's there for emergencies and food prep in other people's kitchens.
    • large multi-tool: not often. Too heavy to carry.
    • small multi tool: style PS every day
    • wallet: not much recently, but I seem to use my credit card numbers all the time.
    • small flashlight - 3-5 times a lot of days
    • large flashlight - rarely now that it's in a backpack. Back when it was in a shoulder bag, at least daily.
    • pen/pencil - rarely. Unless a note app on my phone counts.
    • notebook/day planner - 1-2 times a day if you count phone app. Rarely for actual notebook, but it comes in spurts.
    • pocket FAK - 2-3 times a week
    • larger FAK - once a week
    • paracord - itself, almost never except projects. Stuff I made with it, several times a day. All the time if you count zipper pulls.
    • USB flash drive - only for work and job training.
    • Spare change of clothes - rarely
    • Phone - literally all day.
    • duct/duck tape - a few times a week.
    • CCW - at least daily (dry fire), plus weekly when not injured (it's also my uspsa gun)
    • (screw)driver kit - a few times a week
    • Burt's Bees - almost hourly
    • water/rain protection for electronics - occasionally.
    • water/rain protection for self & bag - very rarely.
    • e&e kit (friction saw, razor blade, handcuff key) - not yet except for "training" (aka playing and pretending I'm a spy or something...yes, I'm a grownup...kind of...I own a house and have a wife at least)
    • sunglasses - daily
    • backup batteries & emergency Vape supplies - maybe weekly
    • backup medicines - probably weekly, mostly when I'm not at home at the right time for something that needs to be taken on a schedule (injury related)
    • TENS device - used to be 3-4 times / day. Now, every few days. It's still in the bag. Also injury related.

I think that just about covers it.

I use everything I carry on person every day, except my wallet, which I probably don't use more often than two or three times per week. Unless you count "holding my driver's license while driving, so that I won't get fined if pulled over" as use.

Mini champ (or variant) daily - although the squeak is stealing its thunder when it comes to package opening. Keychain torch a few times a a week, edc pen (as opposed to the twenty lurking on my desk) once or twice a week. Wave and pocket torch (thrunite t10) gets used everyday when it's site work time but that's sort of seasonal/sporadic.

I don't really count, but I guess I could try and make a hierarchy:

    • Kindle Paperwhite
    • Phone
    • Glasses
    • Pen
    Once 3-4 days:
    • Nail clipper
    • Charging cables/charger for phone

    • USB Flashdrive
    • Small FAK
    • Keys (I don't have a car and there's always somebody home, so I don't really use these)

I don't carry a lot of things with me because I'm kind of on the minimalist side of things, but I feel like if I don't use something, I just remove it from my EDC carry involuntarly.

I don't count daily number of uses to justify an edc item in my mind. No, what does it for me is simply that I find need of each edc item that I carry on a regular basis. At times that may be daily, but is may also be weekly, or monthly, but all of these situations can come up with enough frequency when I'm out and about on any given day (or night) to justify edc, and if I don't have them with me, I'm outa luck.
