Have you ever weighed yourself to see how much your EDC weighs? I just did the other day. Weighed myself after a shower, got dressed for work and weighed myself again: I was a full 10lbs heavier!
    Clothes/belt, shoes, gun/mag, knives/tools, wallet, phone, etc...

I dunno Guido. Technically I agree you are right that shoes/clothes/belt fall into EDC. However. I'd be willing to go out on a limb that in the 'spirit' of EDC, better than 90% of our fellow fanatics would not classify these items as EDC...

All that being said, I applaud your initiative and general approach!

I dunno. I just weighed myself before and after just to try to see how much I weigh with all my gear. It was just kinda interesting... at least to me :)
I guess my point is how much weight are you carrying around?
    (Thats's with my smallest gun)
I suppose I should weigh the individual components next: The gun/mag, knife(s), tools, etc, minus the shoes and clothes, but I wear specific clothing as part of my EDC. Kind of a catch 22. IOW, I wear the clothes to accommodate the gear.
Sometimes I work many (60+) miles from home, and if :censored: that far away, I want a fighting chance to get home.

Anyway... How many others ever thought of this?????

Naah. I think doing a total weight of all the EDC is fine. And if some clothing items are specific to your EDC well of course. Look, this is all your choice. I don't usually wear specific clothing items (especially shoes or coats, both of which can be heaviest!), so my brain wouldn't go in that direction. By analogy, its like being in a supermarket or deli; you'd like them to NOT include the weight of the take out container when figuring the weight of what you're purchasing. Usually for them they just toss the empty container on the scale and hit a button to 'tare' out the container weight (tare being a for real term!). In our world of EDC, I'd consider clothing items which are general as opposed to EDC, to be 'tare' items.

Anyway, I never intended to push this this far! All to the good!

I don't count clothes against my EDC weight. Clothes vary by weather, season, and time of day, and are pretty much not something that I can leave the house without.

If I need to weigh my EDC tools, I empty my belt pouches and pockets and weigh them separately from my clothes. I do occasionally remove excess crap that accumulates unnoticed. I recently gave my keyring a makeover and was surprised by how much crap was on it. Sadly, the biggest and most obnoxious addition is the keyring for my girlfriend's car which has a key/fob combo that is ridiculously long and bulky. It basically adds 50% more bulk to my keychain all by itself.

My EDC for work as a cop is about 30 pounds. Out of the shower and on the scale at 215- fully prepared for shift at 245.

Never checked what my off duty gear weighs. I’d guess around four pounds.

Yeah, I've been going to the hospital for various reasons and, as anybody who goes for a doctor's visit knows, they take your vital stats which includes your weight.

I know what I weigh naked and it is flabbergasting to see that, with clothes and EDC, I wear an extra 10 lbs. on me. This does not include the EDC pack that I bring with me everywhere. The pack itself (Goruck Bullet 15L) is roughly another 15 lbs.

I know personally, video can drop 9.5 to 10lbs by removing my shorts/pants.

I'll go out on a limb and guess that if we don't include bags and their contents, most of us will find that our on-person edc and clothing will average in the 9 ~ 10 lb range, at least spring through fall. Maybe more for those who edc a sidearm...
