Though it might be fun to discuss the ups and downs of carrying multiple knives. Wait, are there any downs?

Personally, at home I like to carry as many as possible... just because I usually don't have much else in my pockets at home and I like having a variety of options available. So, I usually have at least 3 and sometimes 4 or 5 in my pockets around the house. Sometimes one or two of those is a multitool.

For a general out and about carry, I prefer to carry two knives. Specifically so I have knives that are better at one job instead of having one knife to do it all. My general idea is to have one knife that can be quickly used in an emergency and one knife that is good for more finer work such as food prep.

For the purpose of the poll, its just what do you normally carry in public.

Not sure what happened there- it seemed to duplicate my post, and when I edited the duplicate it nuked the copy.

Too long to retype it - but for the purposes of your poll, 2 during the work week, 3 on weekends, 1 or none around the house.

Just one primary knife and a multitool which is either a SAK or Leatherman.

Typically 'on person' I will have 3 or 4. I'm not counting the number of blades per knife -- usually have at least a SAK and sometimes also another 'traditional', which usually also has 2 or 3 blades. Depending on which bag I am carrying that day there may be another couple of knives (I'm counting blades in a MT) in the bag as well. And per OP instructions, I'm ignoring the blades in the car.

I used to chuckle every time I see EDC's picture with multiple knives. That until I empty my bag.

When I'm not carrying my bag I have only one knife and one flashlight.

Always 2 knives. 3 if you count the blade on my little vic classic. When on the job a fixed blade and a folder of some sort. And if I am free a defensive folder and a vic or opinel

    Cheers

My Grip folder is the only knife on me everyday. At one time I kept a SOG pen knife on my key chain but my wife lost hers so I gave her mine.

Lately, I carry a CRKT M16 folder and a shortened box cutter on my pocket "tool keychain". If knives in my bag count, forget about counting.

As long as we're talking EDC, and not a specific situation; one small folder in a front pocket and a skeletool with bit kit and adapter in my backpack.

I usually have 3 on me most days. A Victorinox huntsman in my front pocket, along with either a Leatherman Skeletool or a kershaw cryo for quick, one handed use. And a Leatherman surge in a belt sheath.

I don't really ever use the knife on the surge. I use the small blade on my sak for some tasks, but generally, whichever is clipped to my pocket does most of my cutting tasks.(Skeletool or cryo )

I carry two knives daily. A folder with a blade around 3", and a multi tool of some flavor. On occasion I'll switch the traditional multi for a Victorinox of some sort. On Saturday I'll carry a folder and a fixed blade, usually the day of the week I spend all my time outdoors.

I usually carry at least a dozen, not counting multitools with knife blades. No, I'm not kidding. I once won a bet when I lost ten pounds by emptying my pockets.

Normally 2. A sentimental sebenza for food / clean cutting, and whatever else finds it's way into my pockets for a dirty/ harsh condition cutter....ex, bag of landscaping rocks, wire stripping, etc. I know the sebenza can handle it all, but I have my reasons....lol...

1 knife for me. No need for more IMHO. I do carry a utility razor blade at work though, so I guess that's 2.... hmm....

Most of the time it's 3, a folder, a fully serrated Spydie and a Multitool. Hard to call anything a true EDC as I rotate all three slots. (example, for multi I carry either a Surge or Swisstool or occasionally a Wave or Skeletool).

I generally carry 3; 2 in pocket, and 1 that lives in a wallet. I live by the 2 is one, and one is none philosophy.

I think this is a good way to be. I don't like gumming up my good knife with tape goo. And if you carry a folder, box cutter, and a multi tool, then that's essentially three separate tools with specific functions. Even though they are all technically blades. Live and let live, carry what you will and be happy. But I don't carry multiples of the same knife type. Especially if I'm carrying quality knives/tools.
