i occasionally use those water proof match containers for cash and another for coins then zip tie them in hiding places like under a car seat . some of that stretchy fabric strips for ankle carry or to hide it in certain locations . they work great for drop locations around infrastructure when a zip tie wont work and a stretchable fabric with Velcro will secure it out of site . now you have some of my well kept secrets .

I keep a 50 stashed in an ibuprofen tube, like the ones they sell at gas stations, in the console of my truck. It's enough for a bite to eat and a tank of gas. If/when gas prices go back up I'll add a bit more.

I carry a diary for work with a £20 in it, my GHB has some cash in it, my little PSK has cash and if I'm going out for a drink (rare thing nowadays usually works Christmas do) I have a £20 note in the fifth pocket of my jeans.

This is one area I need to work on big time. I have found myself in the spot where cash would have saved a lot of time trying to find an ATM, but great ideas from everyone.

I have a cheap little two-piece aluminum whistle which lives on my keychain. The void space between the two pieces is just large enough to hold a slightly dampened, tightly rolled $20 bill, which I've used on a few occasions.

Put a £20 note in the pocket of your black suit. Next time you have to go to a funeral, Whayhay, "free" money.

I have 2 $20 bills folded and in the back of my phone case, between phone and case. Been there awhile now. Also keep some smaller bills in my truck.

I have €50 note stashed in hidden pocket of my Tilley-hat and another rolled into the #2 cylinder of my Walker Colt ;)

Ok, nothing in the cylinder and even the Tilley gets worn relatively rarely outside the range. So, emergency funds concerned, not that well prepared

I keep $100 in various bills in every sling/backpack and glove-box of every vehicle I own. When travelling (especially out of country) I stash even more in various places just as a precaution. I also keep any old/expired driver's license in my glove-box as well just in case.

I keep my spending money in a money clip. More cash in my wallet is emergency cash ($250). I have another $300 hidden in the pocket organizer that's always in my pocket.
Working for a bank, I've seen waaaay too many people SOL when their card stops working. People who need gas to get home, a room for the night, food for their kids, need to pay for a meal they just ate, etc. Cards are not that reliable on a good day. On a bad day, like power outage or disaster, you'll need more than $20.

My dad's rule of thumb was alway have enough cash on you to get you home, so I cringe a little reading though this thread. I travel around a lot for work, so I carry a fair amount of cash. I carry my cash in a money clip in my pocket, all cards go in the wallet in my back pocket. You are probably more likely to have you cell phone stolen than cash these day.

Great thoughts and ideas everybody! I keep my cash in a Saddleback large bifold, as it was intended. I don’t touch it unless I HAVE to. I’m a truck driver so I’m usually not in a place where I can shop anyway. If I’m at a grocery store stocking up, I just use my cards. I keep a $100 in my 5.11 rush slingbag.
