right front pocket in a hanks by hank caddy next to my knife. if it is too dark to see, i probably shouldn't be cutting things.
Off-side back or yoke pocket next to a knife. When I'm carrying a shoulder bag, I have a larger light in an outside pocket near where my hand falls. But, I wouldn't draw it and a gun together unless really necessary. I've only practiced like that a little, and....it doesn't really work all that well compared to putting a light on the gun...which I'll get around to...it's just expensive ($200 for the light and another $100 for a holster that will accommodate it). Right now, it also doesn't really come up. I feel like I don't go places that are too dark for target ID, and I don't need a light to use my dot sight. I've done one illegal but fun USPSA stage lit entirely by black lights....far too dark to read a book, but still bright enough to see the targets.
For years it was clipped to my back left pocket next to my wallet, however....my carhartt sweatshirts have a cell phone pocket inside of the kangaroo pocket in the front and I've been clipping my light to that as of lately.
Titanium 1-AAA on a Ti breakaway neck lanyard Titanium 1-AA in a soft calfskin pouch in my trouser pocket Titanium 2-AAA in a leather pen pouch next to a titanium pen in my briefcase Surefire P2ZX Combatlight in my briefcase along with a pair of CR123s. An hour before it turns dark outside, it goes in my right suit coat inner breast pocket. WHEN it turns dark outside, the P2ZX is in my left hand tethered by a short wrist lanyard until I return it to my briefcase just after I arrive at my residence.
Nitecore tube on the keys, dangling from belt, resting in left pocket. ITP 3 dangling from belt with a SAK of some sort in RFP, but close to front, so main blade stays clipped RFP rear. Anything else goes in bag.
Whatever light is my daily one clipped in the front right pocket of my shorts/jeans, backup light(s) in Maxped micro and if I'm bringing another light for a specific reason it goes in my backpack. Ideally I'd just have a belt with 10 hanging off at strategically placed increments though
I started carrying the Fenix E12 in a Tatonka S-size pouch on my belt, front left side. And I got the same pouch (front right side) for my Vic Huntsman. Works better than on the keys and I generally dont like things clipped on the pocket ... Ontario Rat-1 in my right back pocket is the only difference.
Didn't realize we were talking off-body EDC as well. In my EDC bag (Rush 72); Streamlight AAA lantern - right side picket Fenix PD35vn - left side pocket Fenix E15 on a tec clip - clipped to key dangler in front admin compartment Eagle Eye X6 BLF Edition - clipped to pocket in front admin compartment Nitecore HC50 - top sunglasses pocket near grab handle SupBeam K40vn - main compartment Fenix PD22vn - Mexpedition Fatty in main compartment Fenix HL50 - clipped/ranger banded to PALS on left shoulder strap DQG Fairy on Python clip clipped to car/house keys ring
I carry mine in my watch/change pocket on my jeans, currently (Thrunite Ti3). I also have a larger light in a pocket of my Rush 24 that I carry for school/travel.
My Photon Freedom lives on my keys. Daily Carry/clip lights: Zebralight SC5 (or Eagletac D25A clicky but that rarely gets carried now): Left front pocket usually. If I am wearing my Duluth Firehose Work pants it's in one of the smaller exterior cargo pockets on the left side. The slash pockets have super thick edges that will probably bend out the clip. If I'm in my Vertex tactical pants I keep my keys on a Keybak T-reign dangling in the left front pocket so the light clips to the outside of the mag pocket in the left cargo pocket. Ambulance: Surefire G2X Pro- Maxpedition holster 7 O'clockish position on the left side mushed against a radio. Hiking, caving, and other outdoor adventures: Maratac 9290- Left hand 7 o'clockish again in a countycomm nylon multitool holster.
Almost all of my EDC lights are small. I usually carry a DD or a Fairy then a AAA light. I have a few pair of PD jeans that are great for EDC so they ride in the 5th pockets and or right side front pocket.
